Co-op Strategy
In Slay the Spire 2 co-op, enemies scale with party size and attack everyone, so the guides advise one player leaning into support (Weak, Vulnerable, team Block), timing attacks after an ally's debuffs, taking multiplayer cards such as Knockdown, Flanking and Rally, and talking through relics and rest-site healing. Mobalytics' multiplayer tier list puts Knockdown, Flanking, Beacon of Hope, Rally, Glimpse Beyond, Energy Surge and Huddle Up in S tier.
Winning Slay the Spire 2 in co-op comes down to playing as a team rather than as two to four solo decks: enemies have more HP and hit every player, so one player's debuffs and team Block are worth more than in solo, and the multiplayer-only cards reward setting up a partner's big turn. Mobalytics' co-op guide (updated Jun 2, 2026) says a support-focused player is worth more in co-op than in solo, because Weak and Vulnerable from one player help the whole party, and PCGamesN's Nat Smith watched a Knockdown plus a partner's Defect Orbs take half the Ceremonial Beast's HP in one turn (PCGamesN, Mar 21, 2026). Co-op is online for up to four Steam friends, with no matchmaking. The game is in Early Access, and Mega Crit keeps tuning co-op scaling; each piece of advice is credited to whoever gave it. How co-op works is on Co-op Multiplayer.

How co-op changes a fight
Enemies are tougher and target everyone. PC Gamer's co-op guide (Mar 24, 2026) says enemy stats scale with party size and enemy attacks hit the whole party; Energy is not shared, everyone acts at any time during the party's turn, and all must press End Turn. Mobalytics adds that bosses get stronger defenses too: Vantom needs twice the hits to break its Slippery. PC Gamer's Evan Lahti says co-op fights the same enemies with more HP (PC Gamer, Sep 18, 2026). Mega Crit tunes this often, for example lowering multiplayer scaling for enemy Artifact, Slippery and Skittish in v0.104.0 (Apr 24, 2026, main branch Jun 19, 2026).
Everyone still needs their own Block. Mobalytics warns that even with a support player you must defend yourself, because enemy attacks reach every player.
Roles
Give the party a support player. Mobalytics says Weak and Vulnerable applied by one player help the whole party, so one support-focused player is worth more than in solo. PCGamesN's character tier list (updated Apr 28, 2026) names the Silent's Piercing Wail and Expose as cards that help the whole team, says the Necrobinder brings strong multiplayer debuffs, and calls the Defect flexible in multiplayer, able to deal damage or support.
Time your attacks after your partner's debuffs. Because players act at the same time, Mobalytics says to wait for an ally's Vulnerable before attacking. Each player's card previews show over their head, which Nat Smith says lets you coordinate, and you can resume your turn after ending it early while your partner is still deciding (PCGamesN, Mar 21, 2026).
Team compositions
The guides name a few pairings that stand out. PCGamesN calls the Regent "nearly broken" in all-Regent multiplayer parties, while Nat Smith found the Necrobinder and the Regent a "painful duo" in his own runs (PCGamesN). Smith's best turn came from Knockdown on one side and Defect Orbs on the other. Mega Crit has not named a best team, and we found no outlet that ranks co-op teams. Each character is on Characters.
Multiplayer cards worth taking
Co-op adds cards that appear only in multiplayer. On the main branch these are, per Spire Codex (game data, v0.107.1), the Ironclad's Demonic Shield and Tank, the Silent's Flanking and Sneaky, the Regent's Hammer Time and Largesse, the Necrobinder's Glimpse Beyond and Legion of Bone, the Defect's Energy Surge and Ignition, and the Colorless Beacon of Hope, Believe in You, Coordinate, Gang Up, Huddle Up, Intercept, Knockdown, Lift, Mimic, Rally and Tag Team. The full list is on Multiplayer Cards.
Mobalytics ranks them. Its card tier list (updated Aug 12, 2026) puts these in each tier:
| Tier | Multiplayer cards |
|---|---|
| S | Knockdown, Flanking, Beacon of Hope, Rally, Glimpse Beyond, Energy Surge, Huddle Up |
| A | Hammer Time, Gang Up, Sneaky, Tag Team, Believe in You, Mimic, Largesse |
| B | Demonic Shield, Lift |
| C | Legion of Bone, Ignition, Coordinate, Intercept |
| D | Tank |

What the S-tier cards do on the main branch:
| Card | Owner | Cost | Effect | Upgraded |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Knockdown | Colorless | 3 | Deal 10 damage. The enemy takes double damage from other players this turn. | 14 damage; triple damage |
| Flanking | Silent | 2 (1) | The enemy takes double attack damage from other players this turn. | Costs 1 |
| Beacon of Hope | Colorless | 1 | Whenever you gain Block on your turn, other players gain half that much Block. | Gains Innate |
| Rally | Colorless | 2 | ALL players gain 12 Block. | 17 Block |
| Glimpse Beyond | Necrobinder | 1 | ALL players add 3 Souls into their Draw Pile. Exhaust. | 4 Souls |
| Energy Surge | Defect | 1 | ALL players gain 2 Energy. Exhaust. | 3 Energy |
| Huddle Up | Colorless | 1 | ALL players draw 2 cards. Exhaust. | Draw 3 |
Source: Spire Codex (game data, v0.107.1), read Oct 26, 2026. On the public beta since v0.108.0 (Jul 3, 2026), Flanking is Rare and Beacon of Hope costs 2.
Tell your team before you play a setup card. Knockdown and Flanking only pay off if partners attack after them. PCGamesN's Ken Allsop says the 15 co-op cards added on the beta in v0.108.0 often need you to tell teammates before playing them, and warns that Outrage can clutter a teammate's carefully built deck (PCGamesN, Jul 3, 2026). Those cards (such as the Ironclad's Midnight and Blaze, the Silent's Blade Symphony, the Regent's Plot and the Defect's Hibernate) are beta-only so far.
Some co-op cards were trimmed early. Mega Crit's v0.100.0 notes (Mar 20, 2026, main branch Apr 17, 2026) stopped Beacon of Hope from stacking, cut Believe in You from 3(4) to 2(3) Energy and made Huddle Up Exhaust.
Relics, potions and Gold
Talk through relics; you cannot trade them. PC Gamer says relics, potions, Gold and cards are not shared, and each player sees a different shop with different prices. Treasure chests hold one reward per player. When two players want the same chest relic, Mega Crit's patch notes call it a "relic fight"; PC Gamer says chance decides it, while Mobalytics describes Rock Paper Scissors with the loser taking a random other relic. Nat Smith says players negotiate relics toward whoever needs them most.
Some potions can help a teammate. Mobalytics says potions such as Block Potion and Energy Potion can target a teammate, and that you can inspect allies' relics, potions and decks but not their hand. Every potion is on Potions.
Ancients and events give each player their own choice. PC Gamer says Ancients and events offer each player separate options, so blessings can be split by role. More on Neow and the Ancients.
Healing and rest sites
Mend can save a partner, but it costs an upgrade. Rest sites in co-op add Mend, which restores 30% of one ally's HP (PC Gamer). Nat Smith warns that a partner who keeps healing allies instead of upgrading can leave both players too weak for the next act (PCGamesN).
Miniature Tent is stronger in co-op. Mobalytics calls it "incredible" in co-op because of Mend, and Evan Lahti says one player's Miniature Tent "hit several times harder" in co-op (PC Gamer).
Deaths are not the end of a run. PC Gamer says dead players are revived after the battle if the party wins, and TheGamer says a run ends only when all players die (TheGamer, Mar 9, 2026); guides differ on the details of revival, and Mega Crit has not spelled them out.
Communication and the map
Agree on the route out loud. Players vote on the path and a split vote is settled at random (PC Gamer), and everyone can draw on the map while choosing (TheGamer). There is no voice chat in the game; Casey Yano said in the April 2026 Neowsletter (Apr 17, 2026) that in-game voice is unlikely: "Unless something horrible happens to Discord." Route advice is on Pathing Guide.
Play the same mods. Mega Crit recommends that co-op partners run "the same exact mods" (v0.108.0, Jul 3, 2026). More on Mods and Steam Workshop.

Co-op MultiplayerSlay the Spire 2 has online co-op for up to 4 players, Steam friends only with no matchmaking: one player hosts and the others join, everyone shares the map and fights the same enemies, which scale with the party, while each player keeps their own character, HP, deck, relics and rewards. Co-op has its own multiplayer-only cards and its own Ascension progress. -
CharactersSlay the Spire 2 has five playable characters in Early Access: the Ironclad (80 HP), the Silent (70 HP), the Regent (75 HP), the Necrobinder (66 HP) and the Defect (75 HP). The Ironclad is available from the start and each run, won or lost, unlocks the next; the Watcher is not in the game, and a sixth character is in development but unnamed.
-
Multiplayer CardsSlay the Spire 2 has 21 multiplayer-only cards on the main branch v0.107.1, two for each character and 11 colorless, such as Knockdown, Flanking and Rally, which only appear in co-op runs and target allies. The opt-in public beta adds 16 more (15 in v0.108.0 and Tutor in v0.109.0).
-
PotionsSlay the Spire 2 has 64 potions in OP.GG's v0.111.0 beta data (20 Common, 20 Uncommon, 20 Rare and 4 event or token potions), and you start each run with 3 potion slots, one fewer from Ascension 4 (Tight Belt). Fifteen character potions and six shared ones are unlocked through Epochs.
-
Neow and the AncientsAncients are the beings who greet you at the start of each act in Slay the Spire 2 and offer three relics to choose one: Neow at the start of the run, Orobas, Pael or Tezcatara in Act 2, Nonupeipe, Tanx or Vakuu in Act 3, and Darv in either. They heal you on arrival and replace the first game's boss relics; Neow alone has 28 possible blessings on the main branch v0.107.1. -
Pathing GuideIn Slay the Spire 2, plan your route before choosing Neow's blessing, fight a few normal enemies before the first Elite, take one or two Elites per act near rest sites (guides differ on how many), and use ? rooms, shops and rest sites to match your deck's health. Check each act's boss on the map and pick Ancient blessings that fix your deck's weakest point.
