Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit's roguelike deckbuilder, the sequel to Slay the Spire, in Steam Early Access since Mar 5, 2026 for Windows, macOS and Linux, in which you climb the Spire alone or with up to three friends, building a deck from card rewards as the Ironclad, the Silent, the Regent, the Necrobinder or the Defect. This viki covers every character and card, relics and potions, Neow and the Ancients, enchantments and afflictions, the Overgrowth, Underdocks, Hive and Glory with their enemies, Elites and bosses, events, the Merchant and rest sites, Ascension, co-op, unlocks, every patch and the published strategy and tier lists, and every key paragraph plays the moment on YouTube that shows it.
Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit's roguelike deckbuilder, the sequel to Slay the Spire, in Steam Early Access since Mar 5, 2026 for Windows, macOS and Linux, in which you climb the Spire with one of five characters (alone or with up to three friends) building a deck from card rewards. Every fight is played with cards: Attacks deal damage, Skills mostly give Block, Powers last the whole combat, and you have 3 Energy a turn to spend on them. Between fights you choose your path up a branching map, pick one card from each reward, collect relics that change the rules and decide what to rest, buy and remove. A run is lost when your HP reaches 0, and the next one starts from the bottom with a fresh deck. Mega Crit's launch post said the game "already has more content than Slay the Spire 1", and it sold 3,000,000 units in its first week. It is still in Early Access: the store page says it should take "1 - 2 years", and Mega Crit has announced no 1.0 date.

What Slay the Spire 2 is
Slay the Spire 2 is a single-player or co-op card game in which each run is a new climb with a new deck. You start with about ten basic cards (Strikes, Defends and one or two character cards) and grow the deck one card reward at a time; the skill is in what you take, what you skip and what you remove. The first game, Slay the Spire (Early Access 2017, 1.0 on Jan 23, 2019), popularized the genre, and the sequel keeps its structure while changing much around it. Mega Crit lists the new mechanics as "Enchantments, afflictions, Ancients, and alternate acts", plus co-op. The full list is on Differences from Slay the Spire.
A run is three acts of a branching map. Each floor is a room: normal fights, Elites (harder fights that drop relics), ? rooms (usually Events), the Merchant, treasure chests and rest sites, and each act ends with a boss whose icon is on the map from the start. Game Rant counts about 45 to 50 encounters to the final boss and up to about 40 minutes for a typical run. How the map works is on Acts and the Map, and route strategy on the Pathing Guide.
Fights are turn-based. You draw 5 cards each turn, play what your 3 Energy allows, and see each enemy's intent (attack, defend, buff) before you choose. Block absorbs damage and disappears at the start of your next turn; debuffs such as Weak and Vulnerable change damage on both sides. The rules of every keyword are on Cards, and new players should start with the Beginner's Guide and Deck-Building Strategy.
Relics and potions are the other half of a build. Relics are permanent passive effects, from a starter relic to rare finds that define a run; OP.GG counts 298 relics in the beta's game data (v0.111.0). Potions are one-use effects, and you start with 3 potion slots; OP.GG counts 64 potions. Every one is listed on Relics and Potions, and the shop and campfires on Merchant and Rest Sites.
The five characters
Slay the Spire 2 has five playable characters, unlocked in a chain by finishing one run (win or lose) with the one before, per TheGamer. Every one starts with 99 Gold and 3 Energy. The Characters page compares them, and published rankings are collected on the Card Tier List.
| Character | Max HP | Starter relic | Plays with | Unlocked by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ironclad | 80 | Burning Blood | Strength, Exhaust, self-damage | Available from the start |
| Silent | 70 | Ring of the Snake | Shivs, Poison, discard and Sly | A run as the Ironclad |
| Regent (new) | 75 | Divine Right | Stars, Forge and the Sovereign Blade | A run as the Silent |
| Necrobinder (new) | 66 | Bound Phylactery | Osty, Summon, Doom, Souls | A run as the Regent |
| Defect | 75 | Cracked Core | Orbs and Focus | A run as the Necrobinder |
Source: Game Rant (HP and starter relics, Mar 7, 2026) and TheGamer (unlocks, Mar 6, 2026).
The Ironclad returns as the first character, a warrior who heals 6 HP after each combat from Burning Blood and builds Strength or burns cards with Exhaust. His cards are on Ironclad Cards and his builds on the Ironclad Guide.
The Silent returns with Shivs, Poison and a new keyword, Sly: "Sly cards are automatically played for free when they are discarded", Anthony Giovannetti wrote. See Silent Cards and the Silent Guide.
The Regent is new, "heir to the Throne of Stars", per Mega Crit's December 2025 Neowsletter. The Regent spends Stars, a second resource, and Forges the Sovereign Blade, a card that grows through the fight. See Regent Cards and the Regent Guide.
The Necrobinder is the other new character: on her select screen, "A Spireborn lich who seeks revenge. Calls upon her trusty left hand, Osty, in combat." Mega Crit explains that Osty attacks on its own and takes attack damage for her while it has HP, and that Doom kills a creature once its Doom meets or exceeds its HP at the end of its turn. See Necrobinder Cards and the Necrobinder Guide.
The Defect returns as the last unlock, a robot that Channels Lightning, Frost and other Orbs and scales them with Focus. See Defect Cards and the Defect Guide. The first game's fourth character, the Watcher, is not in Slay the Spire 2, and Mega Crit has said only that a "New character" is in development, with no name.
The Spire: acts, bosses and the Ancients
The climb has three acts in Early Access. Act 1 is the Overgrowth or the Underdocks, picked by a coin flip once the Underdocks is unlocked (Mega Crit's engineer described the roll in the v0.107.1 notes); Act 2 is the Hive and Act 3 is Glory, per PCGamesN. Mega Crit describes the Overgrowth as "a lush, tangled ruin" and the Underdocks as "a miry waterway connected to the Spire's sewer system". Alternate versions of Acts 2 and 3 are on the roadmap.
Each act has three possible bosses, listed with their moves on Bosses. The Overgrowth's are the Ceremonial Beast, The Kin and Vantom; the Underdocks' the Lagavulin Matriarch, Soul Fysh and the Waterfall Giant; the Hive's the Kaiser Crab, the Knowledge Demon and The Insatiable; Glory's Aeonglass, the Queen and the Test Subject, per Mobalytics. Aeonglass replaced the Doormaker, which Mega Crit removed in v0.105.0 because "he was over the complexity threshold of what we want". The harder fights along the way are on Elites, and every normal monster is on Enemies.
The Ancients replace the first game's boss relics. Neow greets you at the start of the run with a choice of relics, and another Ancient waits at the start of Acts 2 and 3 with powerful, often double-edged blessings, per Mega Crit: Orobas, Pael and Tezcatara in Act 2, Nonupeipe, Tanx and Vakuu in Act 3, and Darv in either. Every blessing is on Neow and the Ancients, and the setting behind them on Lore and Story.
Events fill most ? rooms. Mega Crit said in June 2025 there were "50+ events" and that none of their options simply does nothing; OP.GG lists 57 events and 8 Ancients in the beta's data. Every choice is on Events.
The top of the Spire
Spoiler note: this section reveals what waits after Act 3.
After the Act 3 boss you meet the Architect, and in Early Access he ends every run: PCGamesN writes that "you cannot beat The Architect; he kills you at the end of your run no matter how much damage you inflict." There is no Act 4 and no keys yet. Mega Crit's store page promises "a true ending" for 1.0, and its roadmap lists "True Victory" as further off.
Cards and how they change
Every character has its own card pool, plus Colorless cards anyone can find. Cards come in Basic, Common, Uncommon and Rare rarities, plus two Ancient cards per character, and most can be upgraded once at a rest site. The hub is Cards; the lists are Ironclad Cards, Silent Cards, Regent Cards, Necrobinder Cards, Defect Cards and Colorless Cards, and the unwanted ones (and the new Quest cards) are on Curses, Statuses and Quest Cards.
Enchantments and afflictions are new layers on cards. An enchantment is a modifier on one card "applied for the duration of that run", shown in purple, mostly from events and Ancients; Casey Yano says they never stack, because "We want our players to experience deckbuilding rather than cardbuilding!" Afflictions are the reverse, applied by enemies to your cards in "all sorts of mean ways". Both are listed on Enchantments and Afflictions.
Co-op multiplayer
Co-op is the biggest addition: up to 4 players climb together online, with "multiplayer-specific cards, powerful team synergies." It is Steam friends only, with no matchmaking. Everyone shares the map and votes on the route, but each player has their own HP, deck, relics and Gold, and enemies' health and damage scale with the number of players, per TheGamer. How it works is on Co-op Multiplayer, the team cards on Multiplayer Cards and team tactics on Co-op Strategy.
Progression: the Timeline and Ascension
Unlocks come from the Timeline, a screen of Epochs earned by playing. Epochs unlock the characters, cards, relics, potions, Ancients and the Underdocks, per Destructoid, and since v0.100.0 none can be earned in Daily or Custom runs. Every Epoch is on Unlocks and the Timeline, and the other modes on Daily Climb and Custom Mode.
Ascension is the difficulty ladder, 10 levels instead of the first game's 20, each adding one handicap to the ones before. Ascension 1 brings Swarming Elites and Ascension 10 a Double Boss at the end of Act 3, per PCGamesN; Ascension 6 is Inflation since Major Update #1. Casey Yano wrote in August 2026 that "Ascension 10 is close to the highest difficulty we'll have for the game". See Ascension and the Ascension Guide.
Slay the Spire 2 has no Steam achievements yet: asked when they come, Yano answered "The v1.0 release." Badges at the end of a run stand in for now, on Achievements and Badges.
Early Access, updates and the roadmap
Mega Crit patches the game first on an opt-in public beta, then moves the changes to the main branch in "Major Updates". The live version is v0.107.1 of Jun 19, 2026, which added Steam Workshop support and the Bestiary; five later betas, the last v0.111.0 on Aug 14, 2026, are on the beta branch only. Every version is on Patches and Updates, and mods on Mods and Steam Workshop.
The roadmap's next content is an Alternate Act 2 and a new character, both "actively" in work in August 2026, then an Alternate Act 3. Mega Crit warned that updates would come "a bit further apart", and its September 2026 Neowsletter teased a new area of the Spire without a date. Mega Crit's store FAQ says Early Access may last "1 - 2 years", and it has given no date for 1.0. The plan in full is on Early Access and Roadmap, and every past date on Release History.
Slay the Spire 2 runs on modest PCs: the Windows minimum is a dual-core 2.0 GHz CPU, 4 GB of memory and a 1 GB graphics card, and Steam rates it Verified on Steam Deck. See PC Requirements and Steam Deck.
Reception and sales
Slay the Spire 2 launched as what GamingOnLinux called "the biggest roguelike deck-builder on Steam ever." Mega Crit reported 3,000,000 units sold and more than 25,000,000 runs in the first week, and SteamDB measured a peak of 574,638 concurrent players on Mar 8, 2026. By May 23, 2026 players had run 240 million climbs with a 25% win rate. On Oct 26, 2026 Steam counted 67,605 players online.
Its Steam reviews split by language. English reviews are Very Positive, 91% of 71,512, while all languages together are 59.4% positive of 217,676, after waves of negative reviews during the spring balance patches that Steam marks as off-topic (Oct 26, 2026).
Critics have reviewed the Early Access build without a Metascore yet (Metacritic shows "tbd"). PCGamesN gave it 10/10, calling it "more about refinement than evolution", and Eurogamer wrote, as Metacritic quotes it, "Cruelty has never been so enjoyable." The numbers, reviews and review waves are on Reception and Sales.
Opinions on how far it moves past the first game differ. PC Gamer's Harvey Randall, after close to 140 hours, wrote that it "feels more like a sequel than a DLC", while PCGamesN's own review listed "Easier than the original at high Ascension levels" among its cons. Players who want speedruns and records will find what sources report on Records and Speedruns.
Development
Mega Crit began Slay the Spire 2 "around May 2021" in Unity, then moved it to Godot after Unity's Runtime Fee in September 2023, which Mega Crit called "a violation of trust" in its first-ever public statement. It announced the game on Apr 10, 2024 for 2025, showed gameplay at The Game Awards on Dec 12, 2024, delayed it on Sep 11, 2025 to March 2026, and set the date on Feb 19, 2026 with the reveal of 4-player co-op. The story is on Development History.

She starts with 66 HP, the lowest of the five, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, the relic Bound Phylactery (Summon 1 at the start of each turn) and 4 Strike, 4 Defend, Bodyguard and Unleash.
- Regent
The Regent is one of the two new characters in Slay the Spire 2, the "Heir to the Throne of Stars", unlocked by playing one run as the Silent. He starts with 75 HP, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, the relic Divine Right (3 Stars at the start of each combat) and a 10-card deck of 4 Strike, 4 Defend, Falling Star and Venerate.
- Silent
The Silent is Slay the Spire 2's second character, unlocked by finishing one run as the Ironclad, win or lose: 70 HP, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, a 12-card deck of 5 Strike, 5 Defend, Neutralize and Survivor, and Ring of the Snake, which draws 2 extra cards at the start of each combat. She plays Shivs, Poison, discard and the new Sly keyword.

- Records and Speedruns
As of Oct 26, 2026 neither Mega Crit nor the gaming press has reported a Slay the Spire 2 speedrun world record or a verified win-streak record; the records on file are Mega Crit's own (3 million sold in a week, 240 million runs by May 2026) and SteamDB's 574,638 concurrent players on Mar 8, 2026. The best-known competitions are the Devour the Tower co-op tournament (May 25, 2026) and China's 7th Cat Food Cup (Aug 8 to 30, 2026).
Guides
- Ascension Guide
To climb Slay the Spire 2's Ascension ladder, the guides say to fix your starter deck's weaknesses fast (damage and AoE first, then Block, draw and scaling), survive an Act 1 with more Elites by resting and using potions, and prepare for Ascension 10's two Act 3 bosses. About 17% of Ascension 10 runs were wins in May 2026, per Mega Crit.
- Beginner's Guide
A Slay the Spire 2 run is a climb through three acts of card battles, each ending in a boss; beginners do best by taking only cards that help, removing Strikes and Defends, blocking big attacks, finding damage that scales, fighting a few Elites near rest sites and using potions freely. Start with the Ironclad, the only character unlocked at first.
- Card Tier List
There is no single Slay the Spire 2 tier list: PCGamesN (Apr 28, 2026) and Pocket Tactics (Oct 5, 2026) both rank the Silent best, but they disagree on the Ironclad and Necrobinder, and PCGamesN's (Apr 2026) and Mobalytics' (Aug 12, 2026) card lists put cards such as Body Slam, Demon Form and Graveblast at opposite ends.
- Co-op Strategy
In Slay the Spire 2 co-op, enemies scale with party size and attack everyone, so the guides advise one player leaning into support (Weak, Vulnerable, team Block), timing attacks after an ally's debuffs, taking multiplayer cards such as Knockdown, Flanking and Rally, and talking through relics and rest-site healing. Mobalytics' multiplayer tier list puts Knockdown, Flanking, Beacon of Hope, Rally, Glimpse Beyond, Energy Surge and Huddle Up in S tier.
- Deck-Building Strategy
Good Slay the Spire 2 decks cover a few jobs in order (front-loaded damage and AoE, then Block, then card draw and Energy, then scaling), skip cards that do not help, and follow relics and enchantments rather than forcing one archetype. Infinite combos still exist, but Mega Crit's v0.100.0 balance pass (Mar 20, 2026) aimed to make them harder to reach.
- Defect Guide
The Defect is the last Slay the Spire 2 character to unlock, with 75 HP, 3 Orb slots and Cracked Core (Channel 1 Lightning at the start of each combat). Guides build it around Orbs and Focus, with Defragment as the key Power, and treat Claw and Status decks as weaker at high Ascension; both tier lists rank it A.
- Ironclad Guide
The Ironclad is Slay the Spire 2's starting character, with 80 HP and Burning Blood (heal 6 HP after each combat). Guides build him around Vulnerable, Body Slam Block, Exhaust or Strength, and agree on taking early damage and energy cards such as Bloodletting, Pommel Strike and Offering.
- Necrobinder Guide
The Necrobinder is one of Slay the Spire 2's two new characters, with 66 HP, the lowest of the five, and Bound Phylactery (Summon 1 at the start of your turn). Guides build her around Osty, her giant hand that soaks damage, Souls for card draw, or Doom, and disagree on whether she is the easiest character or a weak one.
- Pathing Guide
In Slay the Spire 2, plan your route before choosing Neow's blessing, fight a few normal enemies before the first Elite, take one or two Elites per act near rest sites (guides differ on how many), and use ? rooms, shops and rest sites to match your deck's health. Check each act's boss on the map and pick Ancient blessings that fix your deck's weakest point.
- Regent Guide
The Regent is one of Slay the Spire 2's two new characters, with 75 HP and Divine Right (gain 3 Stars at the start of each combat). Guides build him around Stars, a second resource that carries over between turns, with Forge and the Sovereign Blade as a backup, and call him the hardest character to master.
- Silent Guide
The Silent has 70 HP and Ring of the Snake (draw 2 extra cards at the start of combat) in Slay the Spire 2, and both character tier lists rank her S tier. Guides build her around Sly discard, Poison or Shivs, and warn against taking Sly cards before the deck has reliable discard.
Items
- Potions
Slay the Spire 2 has 64 potions in OP.GG's v0.111.0 beta data (20 Common, 20 Uncommon, 20 Rare and 4 event or token potions), and you start each run with 3 potion slots, one fewer from Ascension 4 (Tight Belt). Fifteen character potions and six shared ones are unlocked through Epochs.
- Relics
Slay the Spire 2 has relics in seven rarities (Starter, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Shop, Event and Ancient), and OP.GG counts 298 in the game data of the v0.111.0 public beta. Each character starts with one starter relic that Orobas can upgrade to an Ancient version, and Ancient relics from Neow and the other Ancients replace the first game's boss relics.
Mechanics
- Enchantments and Afflictions
Enchantments are run-long bonuses added to single cards in Slay the Spire 2 (22 in the game data of v0.107.1, such as Corrupted, Glam and Sharp), mostly from events, shop relics and Ancients, and they never stack. Afflictions are their opposite: temporary penalties enemies put on your cards, such as Ringing, Bound and Smog.
Modes
- Co-op Multiplayer
Slay the Spire 2 has online co-op for up to 4 players, Steam friends only with no matchmaking: one player hosts and the others join, everyone shares the map and fights the same enemies, which scale with the party, while each player keeps their own character, HP, deck, relics and rewards. Co-op has its own multiplayer-only cards and its own Ascension progress.
- Daily Climb and Custom Mode
Besides Standard runs, Slay the Spire 2 has Daily runs, one shared run a day with a fixed character, Ascension and three modifiers, ranked on a friends-only leaderboard, and Custom runs, where you pick from 16 modifiers such as Draft, Flight, Midas or Murderous. Neither earns Epochs. Phobia Mode is a setting that redraws creepy enemies; Mega Crit is working on new experimental modes, none released yet.
- Mods and Steam Workshop
Slay the Spire 2 has had a built-in mod loader since launch and official Steam Workshop support since Major Update #2 (v0.107.1, Jun 19, 2026): subscribe on the Workshop and mods download to every device you play on. Modded progress is saved separately, co-op partners should run the same gameplay mods, and mods for the first game cannot work because the sequel uses a different engine.
Overview
- Development History
Slay the Spire 2 is made by Mega Crit, the studio of Casey Yano and Anthony Giovannetti, which began it around May 2021 in Unity and moved it to the Godot engine after Unity's Runtime Fee in September 2023. Art director Marlowe Dobbe led a brighter, more animated look, and Mega Crit announced the game in April 2024, delayed it once and launched it in Early Access on Mar 5, 2026.
- Differences from Slay the Spire
Slay the Spire 2 keeps the first game's card combat and map but replaces boss relics with Ancients, adds enchantments, afflictions, Quest cards, an alternate Act 1 and up to 4-player online co-op, swaps the Watcher for two new characters (the Regent and the Necrobinder), and has 10 Ascension levels instead of 20. It is still in Early Access, with no true ending yet.
- Early Access and Roadmap
Slay the Spire 2 has been in Steam Early Access since Mar 5, 2026 and Mega Crit has announced no 1.0 date; its store page says Early Access may last 1 to 2 years and that the $24.99 price will rise afterward. Next on the roadmap are an Alternate Act 2 and a new character, then an Alternate Act 3, with a true ending, Steam achievements and console and mobile ports further off.
- Lore and Story
Slay the Spire 2 is set when the Spire reopens after lying dormant for 1,000 years; Neow, "Mother of Resurrection (Exiled)", sends five climbers up it, and the story comes in fragments through the Timeline's Epochs, the Ancients and each character's lines to the Architect at the top.
- Patches and Updates
Slay the Spire 2's live main-branch version is v0.107.1, Major Update #2 of Jun 19, 2026, which added Steam Workshop support, the Bestiary and the Aeonglass boss. The latest patch is v0.111.0 of Aug 14, 2026, on the opt-in public beta only; Mega Crit has given no date for the next one.
- PC Requirements and Steam Deck
Slay the Spire 2 needs at least 64-bit Windows 10, a dual-core 2.0 GHz CPU, 4 GB of RAM, a DirectX 12 or Vulkan GPU with 1 GB of VRAM and 4 GB of storage, and runs natively on macOS 12 and later and on Linux; Steam recommends a quad-core 3.0 GHz CPU, 8 GB of RAM and 2 GB of VRAM. It is Steam Deck Verified, has full controller and mouse-only support, and ships in 14 languages.
- Reception and Sales
Slay the Spire 2 sold 3 million copies in its first week, per Mega Crit, and peaked at 574,638 concurrent Steam players on Mar 8, 2026. Its English Steam reviews are Very Positive (91% of 71,512) while all languages together are 59.4% positive after off-topic review waves during balance patches, and it has no Metascore yet; PCGamesN gave it 10/10.
- Release History
Slay the Spire 2 came out in Steam Early Access on Mar 5, 2026 at 18:00 UTC for Windows, macOS and Linux. Mega Crit began it around May 2021, announced it on Apr 10, 2024 for 2025, delayed it on Sep 11, 2025 to March 2026 and named the date on Feb 19, 2026; it is still in Early Access with no 1.0 date.
- Slay the Spire 2
Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit's roguelike deckbuilder, the sequel to Slay the Spire, in Steam Early Access since Mar 5, 2026 for Windows, macOS and Linux at $24.99. You climb the Spire with one of five characters, alone or with up to three friends online, building a deck from card rewards; it sold 3 million copies in its first week and has no 1.0 date yet.
Progression
- Achievements and Badges
Slay the Spire 2 has no Steam achievements yet; asked when they come, Casey Yano answered "The v1.0 release." In Early Access its stand-in is Badges, 23 end-of-run awards such as Flawless (beat a boss without losing HP) or Speedy (win in under 50 minutes), which also rank Daily leaderboards: by win, then Badge count, then time, among Steam friends.
- Ascension
Slay the Spire 2 has 10 Ascension levels, not 20: each one stacks a new handicap, from Swarming Elites at Ascension 1 to Double Boss at Ascension 10, and you unlock the next level by winning on your highest one. Ascension 6 has been Inflation (pricier card removal) since Apr 17, 2026; it was Gloom (fewer rest sites) at launch.
- Unlocks and the Timeline
Slay the Spire 2 unlocks its characters in a chain by playing one run (win or lose) with each: the Ironclad unlocks the Silent, then the Regent, the Necrobinder and the Defect. Everything else (cards, relics, potions, Ancients, the Underdocks, Ascension, Daily and Custom runs) comes from 57 Epochs on the Timeline, earned by goals such as beating an act or by spending score; Daily and Custom runs earn none.
The Spire
- Acts and the Map
A Slay the Spire 2 run climbs three acts, the Overgrowth or the Underdocks (a coin flip), then the Hive, then Glory, each opening with an Ancient and ending in a boss, before the Architect ends the climb. Each act is a branching map of combat, Elite, ? (Unknown), Merchant, Treasure and Rest Site rooms; Game Rant puts a run at about 45 to 50 encounters and up to about 40 minutes.
- Architect
The Architect is the figure at the top of the Spire who ends every Slay the Spire 2 run after the Act 3 boss, killing you before you can play a card; in Early Access there is no Act 4, no keys and no true ending, which Mega Crit promises for the 1.0 release.
- Bosses
Slay the Spire 2 has 12 bosses in Early Access, three per act: Ceremonial Beast, The Kin and Vantom (Overgrowth), Lagavulin Matriarch, Soul Fysh and Waterfall Giant (Underdocks), Kaiser Crab, Knowledge Demon and The Insatiable (Hive), and Aeonglass, Queen and Test Subject (Glory).
- Elites
Slay the Spire 2 has 12 Elite fights in Early Access, three in each of its four areas (Overgrowth, Underdocks, Hive and Glory), and every Elite drops a relic along with a card reward. Ascension 1, Swarming Elites, makes them appear more often.
- Enemies
Slay the Spire 2's normal enemies differ in each of its four areas (the Overgrowth and Underdocks in Act 1, the Hive in Act 2 and Glory in Act 3), with HP that rises at Ascension 8 and damage that rises at Ascension 9. The in-game Bestiary, added in v0.105.0, shows the moves of every monster you have met.
- Events
Slay the Spire 2 has 57 events in OP.GG's v0.111.0 beta data, plus 8 Ancients, met in ? rooms: shared events that can appear in several acts, and events tied to the Overgrowth, Underdocks, Hive or Glory. Each offers two or more choices, such as the Symbiote's Corrupted enchantment or Transform, and the Lantern Key that leads to an Act 3 reward.
- Glory
Glory is Act 3 of Slay the Spire 2, the upper Spire, whose Elites are the Knight Trio, the Mecha Knight and the Soul Nexus and whose boss is Aeonglass, the Queen or the Test Subject; at Ascension 10 you fight two of them.
- Hive
The Hive is Act 2 of every Slay the Spire 2 run, an insect nest whose Elites are the Decimillipede, Entomancer and Infested Prism and whose boss is the Kaiser Crab, the Knowledge Demon or The Insatiable; an Ancient greets you at its start.
- Merchant and Rest Sites
In Slay the Spire 2 the Merchant sells 5 character cards, 2 Colorless cards, 3 relics, 3 potions and one card removal per visit, and Rest Sites let you Rest to heal or Smith to Upgrade a card, with more actions from relics. Card removal gets 25 Gold dearer each time, and from Ascension 6 (Inflation) it starts at 100 Gold and rises by 50; Mega Crit has not published the base removal price or the Rest heal amount.
- Neow and the Ancients
Ancients are the beings who greet you at the start of each act in Slay the Spire 2 and offer three relics to choose one: Neow at the start of the run, Orobas, Pael or Tezcatara in Act 2, Nonupeipe, Tanx or Vakuu in Act 3, and Darv in either. They heal you on arrival and replace the first game's boss relics; Neow alone has 28 possible blessings on the main branch v0.107.1.
- Overgrowth
The Overgrowth is one of the two possible first acts of Slay the Spire 2, a jungle ruin chosen by a coin flip against the Underdocks, with the Elites Bygone Effigy, Byrdonis and Phrog Parasite and the bosses Ceremonial Beast, The Kin and Vantom.
- Underdocks
The Underdocks is the alternate first act of Slay the Spire 2, a sewer waterway chosen by a coin flip against the Overgrowth once unlocked, with the Elites Phantasmal Gardener, Skulking Colony and Terror Eel and the bosses Lagavulin Matriarch, Soul Fysh and Waterfall Giant.
