Silent
The Silent is Slay the Spire 2's second character, unlocked by finishing one run as the Ironclad, win or lose: 70 HP, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, a 12-card deck of 5 Strike, 5 Defend, Neutralize and Survivor, and Ring of the Snake, which draws 2 extra cards at the start of each combat. She plays Shivs, Poison, discard and the new Sly keyword.
The Silent is Slay the Spire 2's second character, unlocked by finishing one run as the Ironclad, win or lose: she has 70 HP and starts with Ring of the Snake, which draws 2 extra cards at the start of each combat (TheGamer, Mar 6, 2026; PCGamesN, Apr 28, 2026). She returns from Slay the Spire (2019) with Shivs, Poison and discard, and gains Sly, a keyword new to this game that plays a card for free when it is discarded. Tier lists rate her the strongest character in the game's Early Access: PCGamesN (Apr 28, 2026) and Pocket Tactics (Oct 5, 2026) both put her in S tier. Every one of her cards is listed on Silent Cards, and how to build her is on Silent Guide.

Who the Silent is
The game describes the Silent in one line: "A huntress from outside the Spire. Ready to stab and poison anything in her way." (Spire Codex, game data). She is one of three returning characters from the first game, with the Ironclad and the Defect, beside the new Regent and Necrobinder (PCGamesN, Apr 28, 2026). Her part in the story comes out through the Timeline's Epochs; the world around her is on Lore and Story.
Mega Crit showed her early and kept her kit familiar. The reveal trailer at the Triple-i Initiative on Apr 10, 2024 showed her with the Ironclad and the Necrobinder (Game Informer, Feb 19, 2026). Asked whether Poison would return, Casey Yano answered "we like poison" (October 2025 Neowsletter).
How to unlock the Silent
The Silent unlocks after your first run as the Ironclad, whether you win or lose (TheGamer, Mar 6, 2026). In the game this is the Ironclad's Epoch "Fog Rolls In" (Spire Codex: epochs). Daily and Custom runs do not count: they cannot earn Epochs since v0.100.0. A run as the Silent then unlocks the Regent through "Anomalous Planet"; the whole chain is on Unlocks and the Timeline.
Her own Epochs add cards, relics and Ascension. Per the game data, "Bigger Prey" (beat Act 1 with her) unlocks Snakebite, Bubble Bubble and Accelerant, "Poisoner" (kill 15 Elites) unlocks Reflex, Master Planner and Hand Trick, "Soup" (beat Ascension 1) unlocks Hidden Daggers, Blade of Ink and Phantom Blades, and "Trophies" (beat Act 3) opens Ascension for her (Spire Codex: epochs; Mega Crit added art for Poisoner and Soup in v0.106.0).
Starting deck and relic
The Silent starts with 12 cards, the only 12-card starter of the five: five Strikes (1 Energy, 6 damage, 9 upgraded), five Defends (1 Energy, 5 Block, 8 upgraded), Neutralize and Survivor (Spire Codex, game data, v0.107.1). Neutralize costs 0 Energy, deals 3 damage and applies 1 Weak (4 damage and 2 Weak upgraded). Survivor costs 1 Energy, gives 8 Block (11 upgraded) and discards 1 card, which makes it the starter deck's only way to trigger Sly (PCGamesN's Silent guide, Apr 8, 2026).
Ring of the Snake, her starter relic, draws 2 extra cards at the start of each combat (PCGamesN). With 70 Max HP she has the second-lowest health of the five, above only the Necrobinder's 66 (Spire Codex).
The Ancient Orobas can upgrade the relic. Its Touch of Orobas replaces your starter relic with an Ancient version (Spire Codex: relics), which for the Silent is Ring of the Drake: 2 extra cards at the start of each of your first 3 turns. Orobas's Archaic Tooth instead transforms a starter card into an Ancient version (Mega Crit's v0.103.0 notes, Apr 10, 2026). Both are covered on Neow and the Ancients.
Mechanics
The Silent's cards revolve around Sly, Poison and Shivs, which PCGamesN names as her three mechanics, held together by discard and supported by Weak and Dexterity.
Sly is the new one. The game's text reads "If this card is discarded from your Hand before the end of your turn, play it for free" (Spire Codex: keywords). Her Sly cards on the main branch are Flick-Flack, Ricochet, Untouchable, Haze, Reflex, Tactician and Abrasive, plus the co-op card Sneaky; Hand Trick and Master Planner add Sly to other Skills (Spire Codex, v0.107.1).
Discard is how Sly fires: Survivor, Prepared, Dagger Throw, Acrobatics and Calculated Gamble all discard (Spire Codex). PC Gamer's Harvey Randall warns that Sly cards taken before you have reliable discard act like curses (PC Gamer, Jun 12, 2026).
Poison deals damage over time. "Poisoned creatures lose HP at the start of their turn. Each turn, Poison is reduced by 1." (Spire Codex: powers). Mobalytics points out that because it ticks at the start of the enemy's turn, end-of-turn statuses still hit you even when the enemy is about to die, that Artifact blocks it, and that Accelerant makes Poison deal its damage faster rather than more in total (Mobalytics, Jun 17, 2026).
Shivs are 0-cost token Attacks that deal 4 damage (6 upgraded) and Exhaust (Spire Codex: Shiv). Blade Dance, Cloak and Dagger, Infinite Blades and others make them; Accuracy adds 4(6) damage to each and Fan of Knives makes them hit ALL enemies (Spire Codex, v0.107.1).
Weak and Dexterity are her defense. Weakened creatures "deal 25% less damage with Attacks", and Dexterity "Increases Block gained from cards" (Spire Codex: powers). PCGamesN says her weakness is a thin set of Block cards, so she needs Dexterity.
Ancient cards
The Silent's two Ancient-rarity cards are Suppress and Wraith Form, which come from Ancient relics rather than card rewards (Spire Codex, v0.107.1). Suppress is Innate, costs 0 Energy, deals 11 damage and applies 3 Weak (17 damage and 5 Weak upgraded). Wraith Form costs 3 Energy and gives 2 Intangible (3 upgraded), which reduces all damage taken to 1, then takes 1 Dexterity each turn (Spire Codex: powers). PCGamesN's Silent tier list puts Wraith Form in S tier.
Silent relics
Seven relics appear only in Silent runs on the main branch (Spire Codex: relics, v0.107.1): Snecko Skull (Common, +1 Poison whenever you apply Poison), Tingsha (Uncommon, 3 damage to a random enemy per card discarded on your turn), Twisted Funnel (Uncommon, 4 Poison to ALL enemies at the start of combat), Helical Dart (Rare, 1 Dexterity this turn per Shiv played), Paper Krane (Rare, Weak enemies deal 40% less damage rather than 25%), Tough Bandages (Rare, 3 Block per card discarded on your turn) and Ninja Scroll (Shop, 3 Shivs at the start of each combat). Every relic is on Relics.
Builds
Guides agree on three Silent builds: Sly, Poison and Shiv. PCGamesN (Apr 8, 2026) calls Sly "the most powerful new keyword" and says it pairs with either of the others, while Poison and Shiv are hard to combine. PC Gamer's Harvey Randall ranks Sly first ("just busted"), Poison second and Shiv as the most reliant on relics (PC Gamer, Jun 12, 2026), and PC Gamer's Evan Lahti, with 441 runs as the Silent, calls Shiv plus Sly "the most fun basic build" (PC Gamer, Sep 18, 2026). Card picks for each are on Silent Guide.
How strong is the Silent?
Every tier list read for this page puts the Silent at the top. PCGamesN's character tier list (Apr 28, 2026, ranking the main branch as of Apr 17) puts her alone in S tier and calls her "undoubtedly the best character in STS 2 right now". Pocket Tactics' tier list (Oct 5, 2026) also puts her in S, saying Sly makes discard builds as strong as Shiv and Poison and that she ramps quickly once a few key pieces arrive.
Guides rate her easy to learn, though not the easiest. Game Rant (Mar 7, 2026) rates her Easy/Medium, behind the Ironclad, and TheGamer (Mar 9, 2026) calls her easy; Kotaku (Mar 18, 2026) ranks her second easiest after the Necrobinder. The others are compared on Characters.
Changes by patch
Mega Crit has spent its Silent changes on keeping Sly in check. In v0.101.0 (Mar 27, 2026) it wrote that "Sly synergies are overall too dominant", yet restored Prepared, which it had replaced a week earlier in v0.100.0, because the card "is so integral to the Silent's core identity". Major Update #1 (Apr 17, 2026) put the aim plainly: "make Sly builds less overly dominant while making sure they still feel satisfying".
That update brought the first round to the main branch: cuts to Flick-Flack, Untouchable and Corrosive Wave and Grand Finale's rise to 60(75) from v0.100.0, Blade of Ink's rework into Inky Shivs from v0.102.0 (Apr 3, 2026), and Acrobatics moved from Common to Uncommon in v0.103.0 (Apr 10, 2026) because it was "completely dominating both win rates and pick rates". Major Update #2 (Jun 19, 2026) added smaller changes, among them Follow Through reworked into Scare and Pounce raised to 14(20) in v0.106.0.
On the opt-in public beta only, not yet the live game, the reworks continue. v0.108.0 to v0.111.0 (Jul 3 to Aug 14, 2026) remade Outbreak, Haze, Expertise, Well-Laid Plans and Mirage, turned Scare into Sidestep and added three co-op cards. Every number is on Silent Cards and every patch on Patches and Updates.
Differences from the first game
The Silent keeps her first-game identity of Shivs, Poison and discard, and Sly is the main addition. Mega Crit made Sly her signature new keyword, revealed in May 2025, ten months before launch (May 2025 Neowsletter). PCGamesN says some Shiv cards were toned down from the first game, and Wraith Form is now an Ancient card, kept out of ordinary card rewards (Spire Codex).
The run around her has changed too. Ancients replace the first game's boss relics (Mega Crit, November 2025 Neowsletter), Ascension has 10 levels rather than 20, and in co-op PCGamesN notes her Piercing Wail and Expose help the whole team. The full list is on Differences from Slay the Spire.

Lore and StorySlay the Spire 2 is set when the Spire reopens after lying dormant for 1,000 years; Neow, "Mother of Resurrection (Exiled)", sends five climbers up it, and the story comes in fragments through the Timeline's Epochs, the Ancients and each character's lines to the Architect at the top.
-
Unlocks and the TimelineSlay the Spire 2 unlocks its characters in a chain by playing one run (win or lose) with each: the Ironclad unlocks the Silent, then the Regent, the Necrobinder and the Defect. Everything else (cards, relics, potions, Ancients, the Underdocks, Ascension, Daily and Custom runs) comes from 57 Epochs on the Timeline, earned by goals such as beating an act or by spending score; Daily and Custom runs earn none.
-
AscensionSlay the Spire 2 has 10 Ascension levels, not 20: each one stacks a new handicap, from Swarming Elites at Ascension 1 to Double Boss at Ascension 10, and you unlock the next level by winning on your highest one. Ascension 6 has been Inflation (pricier card removal) since Apr 17, 2026; it was Gloom (fewer rest sites) at launch.

Neow and the AncientsAncients are the beings who greet you at the start of each act in Slay the Spire 2 and offer three relics to choose one: Neow at the start of the run, Orobas, Pael or Tezcatara in Act 2, Nonupeipe, Tanx or Vakuu in Act 3, and Darv in either. They heal you on arrival and replace the first game's boss relics; Neow alone has 28 possible blessings on the main branch v0.107.1.
