Relics
Slay the Spire 2 has relics in seven rarities (Starter, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Shop, Event and Ancient), and OP.GG counts 298 in the game data of the v0.111.0 public beta. Each character starts with one starter relic that Orobas can upgrade to an Ancient version, and Ancient relics from Neow and the other Ancients replace the first game's boss relics.
Slay the Spire 2 has relics in seven rarities, Starter, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Shop, Event and Ancient, and OP.GG's relic list counts 298 of them in the game data of the v0.111.0 public beta (Aug 14, 2026). A relic is a permanent item that changes the rules for the rest of the run: each character starts with one, Elites and treasure chests drop more, the Merchant sells them, events give them, and the Ancients, starting with Neow, offer the most powerful ones as blessings in place of the first game's boss relics. This page lists the relics by rarity with their effects. The game is in Early Access and Mega Crit keeps tuning relics, so where a public-beta patch changed an effect after the main branch's v0.107.1 (Jun 19, 2026), the table gives the main-branch effect and labels the beta change.

How rarity works
Rarity in Slay the Spire 2 measures complexity more than power. Mega Crit's designer Anthony Giovannetti wrote in the v0.101.0 notes (Mar 27, 2026) that Common relics "are not necessarily weaker, but that they are often simple effects that could add value to most decks. As rarity increases we allow higher complexity and more impact on drafting/play decisions." The same patch moved several relics between rarities to fit that rule.
Character relics, marked with a character below, only show up in that character's runs, per Kotaku (Mar 18, 2026). Some are unlocks: killing 15 bosses with a character opens an Epoch with a relic such as the Silent's Twisted Funnel, the Regent's Mini Regent or the Defect's Gold-Plated Cables. Other Epochs add shared relics, such as "Ancients" (Book of Five Rings, Kusarigama, Ice Cream) and "Scribbles" (Reptile Trinket, Unsettling Lamp, Intimidating Helmet), per Destructoid's Epoch guide (Mar 7, 2026). See Unlocks and the Timeline.
The effect text in every table is OP.GG's, read from the v0.111.0 beta's game data on Oct 26, 2026, shortened where marked.
Starter relics and their Ancient versions

Wax relics and the Fake Merchant's copies
Two groups of relics exist only in special cases. Wax Relics are temporary copies from Tezcatara's Toy Box that melt away one at a time every 3 combats, per OP.GG. The Fake Merchant ("The Merchant???") sells weaker copies marked "???", which you keep by beating him: Anchor??? (4 Block), Blood Vial??? (heal 1 HP), Happy Flower??? (Energy every 5 turns), Lee's Waffle??? (heal 10% of HP), Mango??? (+3 Max HP), Orichalcum??? (3 Block), Snecko Eye??? (start Confused), Strike Dummy??? (+1 damage), Venerable Tea Set??? (+1 Energy) and The Merchant's Rug??? ("Poor imitation. Does nothing."), per OP.GG's relic list.
New relic mechanics
Slay the Spire 2 relics do things the first game's could not, mostly through its new systems. Several shop and event relics Enchant cards (Gnarled Hammer, Kifuda, Punch Dagger, Royal Stamp, Wing Charm, Fresnel Lens; see Enchantments and Afflictions), Byrdpip gives you a pet that fights beside you, and Neow's Dowsing Rod and Neow's Torment put special cards in your deck. Ancients replace boss relics, so energy relics now come with a cost: PC Gamer's Harvey Randall wrote (May 15, 2026) that in the first game beating an act "nearly always" meant taking an energy relic, while in the sequel energy relics often carry major downsides.

On the public beta (v0.108.0 to v0.111.0, Jul 3 to Aug 14, 2026), Mega Crit changed Divine Destiny, Regalite, History Course, Diamond Diadem, Seal of Gold, Toy Box, Signet Ring, Fur Coat, Beautiful Bracelet, Toasty Mittens, Distinguished Cape, Sere Talon and others, as the tables note. Those changes are not on the main branch.
Best relics
Which relics are best depends on the character and the deck, and the published lists are opinions. Mobalytics' relic tier list, curated by the player JapaneseExport and updated Jul 27, 2026, leaves out Ancient and starter relics and puts in S tier Pocketwatch, Gambling Chip, Data Disk, Fresnel Lens, History Course, Pollinous Core, Razor Tooth, Bag of Preparation, Horn Cleat, Funerary Mask, Anchor, Gorget, Lizard Tail, Captain's Wheel, Runic Capacitor, Toxic Egg, Mummified Hand, Sturdy Clamp, Meat on the Bone, Cloak Clasp, Self-Forming Clay, Book Repair Knife, Regalite, Gold-Plated Cables, Potion Belt, Paper Krane, Emotion Chip, Red Skull, Centennial Puzzle, Mini Regent, Kifuda, Oddly Smooth Stone, Tuning Fork, Lunar Pastry and Galactic Dust. Its D tier includes Juzu Bracelet, Lava Lamp, Bone Tea, Belt Buckle, Dingy Rug, Bing Bong, Brimstone, Big Mushroom and Screaming Flagon.
PC Gamer's editors single out the shop's Miniature Tent. In their Sep 18, 2026 panel they call it "the absolute turbo nuts in Act 1", and Harvey Randall calls it an instant buy at high Ascension because it lets you Rest and Smith at once and stacks with Rest Site relics such as Shovel and Girya.
Untapped.gg's Dillon Skiffington (Apr 2026) reads relics as signals for a build, such as Red Skull, Vajra and Self-Forming Clay for a self-damage Ironclad or Kunai and Shuriken for a Shiv Silent, and names traps: Velvet Choker kills decks that play many cards a turn, Brimstone only pays off in short fights, and Ectoplasm means skipping Gold events and shops. He warns: "Forcing a build around a single Relic when your cards point somewhere else is how you die in Act 2".

Unlocks and the TimelineSlay the Spire 2 unlocks its characters in a chain by playing one run (win or lose) with each: the Ironclad unlocks the Silent, then the Regent, the Necrobinder and the Defect. Everything else (cards, relics, potions, Ancients, the Underdocks, Ascension, Daily and Custom runs) comes from 57 Epochs on the Timeline, earned by goals such as beating an act or by spending score; Daily and Custom runs earn none.
-
IroncladThe Ironclad is Slay the Spire 2's starting character, playable from the first run: 80 HP, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, a deck of 5 Strike, 4 Defend and Bash, and Burning Blood, which heals 6 HP at the end of each combat. He builds on Strength, Vulnerable, Exhaust and losing HP.
-
SilentThe Silent is Slay the Spire 2's second character, unlocked by finishing one run as the Ironclad, win or lose: 70 HP, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, a 12-card deck of 5 Strike, 5 Defend, Neutralize and Survivor, and Ring of the Snake, which draws 2 extra cards at the start of each combat. She plays Shivs, Poison, discard and the new Sly keyword.
-
RegentThe Regent is one of the two new characters in Slay the Spire 2, the "Heir to the Throne of Stars", unlocked by playing one run as the Silent. He starts with 75 HP, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, the relic Divine Right (3 Stars at the start of each combat) and a 10-card deck of 4 Strike, 4 Defend, Falling Star and Venerate.
-
NecrobinderThe Necrobinder is a new character in Slay the Spire 2, "A Spireborn lich who seeks revenge" who fights beside her giant hand Osty, unlocked by playing one run as the Regent. She starts with 66 HP, the lowest of the five, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, the relic Bound Phylactery (Summon 1 at the start of each turn) and 4 Strike, 4 Defend, Bodyguard and Unleash. -
DefectThe Defect is the fifth and last character to unlock in Slay the Spire 2 (end a run as the Necrobinder, win or lose), an automaton that fights with Orbs and Focus. It starts with 75 HP, 99 Gold, 3 Energy, 3 Orb slots, 4 Strikes, 4 Defends, Zap, Dualcast and the relic Cracked Core, which Channels 1 Lightning at the start of each combat.
