Events
Slay the Spire 2 has 57 events in OP.GG's v0.111.0 beta data, plus 8 Ancients, met in ? rooms: shared events that can appear in several acts, and events tied to the Overgrowth, Underdocks, Hive or Glory. Each offers two or more choices, such as the Symbiote's Corrupted enchantment or Transform, and the Lantern Key that leads to an Act 3 reward.
Slay the Spire 2 has 57 events in OP.GG's event list (game data of the v0.111.0 public beta, Aug 14, 2026), plus the 8 Ancients, which OP.GG files as events too. You meet events in ? rooms on the map: a ? room is most often an event but can turn out to be another kind of room, per TheGamer's event guide (Mar 15, 2026). Some events are shared between acts; the rest belong to one area: the Overgrowth or the Underdocks in Act 1, the Hive in Act 2 or Glory in Act 3. Mega Crit said before launch that its events are "balanced to provide difficult decisions" (June 2025 Neowsletter), and each one below is listed with every choice and what it gives. The game is in Early Access, so events and their numbers still change.

How events work
An event shows full-screen art, a short story and two or more buttons, each naming what it costs and what it gives. Mega Crit made event art "take up the whole screen" in the sequel, per its June 2025 Neowsletter. Some choices are locked until you meet a condition, such as having enough Gold, HP or a card of the right kind.
Gold and HP amounts in many events change from run to run. TheGamer saw This or That? give 48 Gold and The Sunken Statue 115 Gold, where Destructoid (Mar 10, 2026) saw 66 and 113 and OP.GG lists 111. The numbers in the tables are OP.GG's, read Oct 26, 2026, unless a patch note gives a range.

The Symbiote, one of the most searched events, trades a card for a run-long enchantment. "Approach" puts Corrupted on one of your Attacks, and "Kill with Fire" lets you Transform a card instead. TheGamer suggests the Transform when you are struggling for HP, and Corrupted for experienced players or builds that want it. Enchantments are explained on Enchantments and Afflictions.
The Spoils Map from The Legends Were True is a Quest card: it marks a site in the next act worth 600 Gold per copy (v0.104.0, Apr 24, 2026). Since v0.107.0, on the main branch since Jun 19, the first floor of Act 2 can no longer be a ? room instead of a fight while you carry it. Slippery Bridge no longer offers the same card twice until it has offered every other card, since v0.104.0 (Major Update #2). Gold-generating relics cannot be Wongo's featured relic since v0.101.0.

Source: OP.GG event pages (list, v0.111.0), read Oct 26, 2026; Dense Vegetation's Gold from Mega Crit's v0.100.0 notes (Mar 20, 2026).
The Sunken Statue is listed by OP.GG under both the Overgrowth and the Underdocks; Destructoid puts it in the Overgrowth and Mobalytics in the Underdocks. Its Sword of Stone "transforms into a powerful Relic after defeating 5 Elites" (OP.GG). Dense Vegetation's heal also varies: TheGamer saw 19 HP and Destructoid 25 HP. Whispering Hollow's Gold price fell from 50 to 35 in v0.102.0.
The Byrdonis Egg hatches at a Rest Site into Byrd Swoop, a 0-cost Attack dealing 14 damage, per PCGamesN (Mar 9, 2026). TheGamer advises taking the egg early in a run and the Max HP late, when no Rest Sites are left. Mega Crit's April 2026 Neowsletter said players split almost evenly in the first month: 51% took the egg and 49% ate it.

OP.GG calls the Trash Heap's cards and relics "forgotten". Spiral (Replay 1) and Steady (Retain) are enchantments, per Mobalytics.

Source: OP.GG event pages (list, v0.111.0), read Oct 26, 2026; Colossal Flower also from PCGamesN (Mar 10, 2026).
The Lantern Key is a quest. Keeping it means beating the Mysterious Knight, a 101 HP Flail Knight in OP.GG's data (see Elites); the key is an Unplayable Quest card that "Unlocks a special event in the next Act", War Historian, Repy in Glory. Mega Crit's April 2026 Neowsletter said 56% of players returned the key for Gold in the game's first month and 44% fought for it.
TheGamer prefers Combine Strikes at the Amalgamator, since you would remove Strikes anyway and get a stronger card back. Colorful Philosophers does not appear if a player has only the Ironclad unlocked (v0.103.1, Apr 16, 2026).
Glory events (Act 3)
| Event | Choices and outcomes |

Source: OP.GG event pages (list, v0.111.0), read Oct 26, 2026; Battle Friend HP from OP.GG.
Most players free Repy: Mega Crit's April 2026 Neowsletter counted 88% for the cage and History Course against 12% for the chest. History Course plays a copy of your last played Attack or Skill at the start of your turn; on the public beta since v0.109.0 (Jul 17, 2026) it copies Attacks only. Holding more than one Lantern Key makes "something special" happen at Repy in single player (v0.105.0). OP.GG files Repy with the shared events.
The Merchant???
The 57th event in OP.GG's list is "The Merchant???", the Fake Merchant. Throwing a Foul Potion (from the Potion Courier) at him starts a fight; TheGamer (Mar 17, 2026) says he has 165 HP, and beating him gives his whole relic stock of "???" copies, his rug and 300 Gold. See Merchant and Rest Sites.
Event choice statistics
Mega Crit published how players chose in four events, from the game's first month, in its April 2026 Neowsletter (Apr 17, 2026):
| Event | Choice | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Room Full of Cheese | Gorge (2 of 8 Common cards) | 63% |
| Room Full of Cheese | Search (The Chosen Cheese) | 37% |
| Byrdonis Nest | Take the Egg | 51% |
| Byrdonis Nest | Eat the Egg | 49% |
| The Lantern Key | Return the Key (100 Gold) | 56% |
| The Lantern Key | Keep the Key (fight) | 44% |
| War Historian, Repy | Unlock the Cage (History Course) | 88% |
| War Historian, Repy | Unlock the Chest (Potions and Relics) | 12% |
Best event choices
The best choice depends on your deck, HP and Gold, and the guides that rank choices are opinions. TheGamer's event guide (Sanyam Jain, Mar 15, 2026, a work in progress) gives these picks:
| Event | TheGamer's advice |
|---|---|
| Amalgamator | Combine Strikes: you want Strikes gone anyway |
| Byrdonis Nest | Take the Egg early in a run; take the Max HP late, with no Rest Sites ahead |
| Room Full of Cheese | Search for The Chosen Cheese early if you can spare the HP; otherwise pick the cards |
| Slippery Bridge | Overcome to remove the card; Hold On rerolls the card if you can afford the HP |
| Symbiote | Transform if HP is a problem; Corrupted for experienced players or builds that want it |
| Tablet of Truth | Decipher for a random Upgrade unless your HP is very low |
Events in co-op
In Co-op Multiplayer, each player gets their own event options, per PC Gamer (Mar 24, 2026). Some events check every player before they appear: Dense Vegetation cannot appear if any player has 8 HP or less (Mega Crit, May 29, 2026), The Round Tea Party needs 12 HP per player and Morphic Grove two transformable cards per player (v0.100.0), and Colorful Philosophers is blocked while any player has only the Ironclad unlocked.
Ancients
The 8 Ancients (Neow, Orobas, Pael, Tezcatara, Nonupeipe, Tanx, Vakuu and Darv) are event rooms at the start of each act that offer relic blessings. They are on Neow and the Ancients, and their relics on Relics.
