Silent Guide
The Silent has 70 HP and Ring of the Snake (draw 2 extra cards at the start of combat) in Slay the Spire 2, and both character tier lists rank her S tier. Guides build her around Sly discard, Poison or Shivs, and warn against taking Sly cards before the deck has reliable discard.
To play the Silent well in Slay the Spire 2, guides say to cover early damage and AoE in Act 1, then build toward one of her three archetypes, Sly (discard), Poison or Shiv, without taking Sly cards before the deck can discard them (PC Gamer's Harvey Randall, Jun 12, 2026). She starts with 70 HP and the game's only 12-card starting deck, and her starter relic Ring of the Snake draws two extra cards at the start of each combat. Both published character tier lists rank her S tier: PCGamesN (Apr 28, 2026) calls her "undoubtedly the best character in STS 2 right now", and Pocket Tactics (Oct 5, 2026) agrees. Advice below is attributed; card numbers are the main branch, v0.107.1, since the game is in Early Access. Her cards are on Silent Cards and her story on Silent.

Strengths and weaknesses
The Silent's strength is fast, many-card turns. Mobalytics' Silent guide (by JapaneseExport, updated Jun 17, 2026) lists easy Weak and Block scaling, Retain and card draw as her strengths, and hard-to-use discard, little Energy generation and low early damage as her weaknesses. PCGamesN's Silent guide (Apr 8, 2026) adds that her block cards are thin, so she needs Dexterity.
Sly is the keyword that defines her in this game. Mega Crit described it in its May 2025 Neowsletter: "Sly cards are automatically played for free when they are discarded." PCGamesN calls it "the most powerful new keyword", and Mega Crit has spent several patches on it: v0.101.0 said "Sly synergies are overall too dominant", and Major Update #1 aimed to "make Sly builds less overly dominant while making sure they still feel satisfying."
Act 1: damage and AoE first
The Silent needs more early damage than other characters. JapaneseExport says her starter deck holds Survivor, a built-in discard, and Neutralize, but she needs extra damage, "especially in an overgrowth act." Harvey Randall's order of priorities at Ascension 10 starts with early damage and one or two AoE cards, then Block, then draw and discard, and scaling last (PC Gamer, Jun 12, 2026).
Randall's early picks are specific. For AoE he names Echoing Slash, Flick-Flack or Dagger Spray, because "STS2 has a lot of nasty multi-target fights." For damage he names Poisoned Stab with Bubble Bubble, Backstab and Assassinate (good in Act 1, weak later), Strangle, Ricochet, Flechettes, Snakebite, Dagger Throw ("just get it") and Dash.
Do not commit too early. PCGamesN advises building an Act 1 base of Dash, Backflip and Footwork before going into Poison, and calls an early all-Poison deck a common mistake. Randall warns that Sly cards without reliable discard act like curses, and you "lose in Act 1 to terrible hands."
Acts 2 and 3: draw, discard and scaling
Once the deck has damage, the Silent's mid-game is about draw and discard. Randall's draw picks are Prepared (upgraded, it "can be responsible for winning your run"), Tools of the Trade, Well-Laid Plans, Reflex, Acrobatics, Backflip, Calculated Gamble and Hidden Daggers, and he calls Adrenaline, Calculated Gamble, Tools of the Trade and Hidden Daggers natural Sly enablers. JapaneseExport calls Adrenaline "The best of the best" and Tactician her only true Energy source.
Defense scales through Dexterity, Weak and Afterimage. Randall's defensive picks are Footwork (one Dexterity solid, two amazing, three probably too much), Abrasive, Blur, Leg Sweep, Blade of Ink, Untouchable, Afterimage and Escape Plan. JapaneseExport calls Piercing Wail "one of the best cards in the entire game" and Leg Sweep "as close to a never skipped card as you can get."
For scaling damage, JapaneseExport names Accuracy, Infinite Blades, Noxious Fumes and Tracking, calling Tracking "one of, if not the best physical damage multiplier in the game." Randall adds Accelerant, Shadow Step, Accuracy and Phantom Blades once you have Shiv makers, and Corrosive Wave with card draw.
Builds
Guides agree on three Silent archetypes, and disagree on which is strongest. Randall ranks Sly first ("just busted"), Poison second and Shiv as the most synergy-reliant; PC Gamer's Evan Lahti calls Shiv plus Sly "the most fun basic build" (Sep 18, 2026). PCGamesN says Sly pairs with either of the others, while Poison and Shiv are hard to combine.
| Build | Key cards | Relics | Named by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sly (discard) | Early Ricochet, Flick-Flack, Untouchable; Acrobatics, Dagger Throw, Prepared; then Abrasive, Hand Trick, Reflex, Tactician | Bag of Preparation, Centennial Puzzle, Letter Opener, Tingsha, Tough Bandages | PCGamesN, Apr 8, 2026 |
| Sly (discard) | Abrasive, Tactician, Acrobatics, Calculated Gamble, Master Planner | Tingsha, Tough Bandages, The Abacus | Pocket Tactics, Sep 30, 2026 |
| Poison | Early Poisoned Stab, Bouncing Flask, Noxious Fumes; then Envenom, Corrosive Wave, Bubble Bubble, Haze; later Accelerant, Mirage | Snecko Skull, Twisted Funnel | PCGamesN, Apr 8, 2026 |
| Poison | Accelerant, Deadly Poison, Poisoned Stab, Bubble Bubble, Mirage | Snecko Skull, Twisted Funnel, Unsettling Lamp | Pocket Tactics, Sep 30, 2026 |
| Shiv | Early Blade Dance, Cloak and Dagger, Finisher, Hidden Daggers; then Accuracy, Fan of Knives, Knife Trap | Ninja Scroll, Helical Dart | PCGamesN, Apr 8, 2026 |
| Shiv and Sly | Shiv makers with Sly enablers | Shuriken, Helical Dart, Ornamental Fan, Kusarigama, Letter Opener, Nunchaku, Pen Nib, Cloak Clasp, Kunai | PC Gamer's Evan Lahti, Sep 18, 2026 |
Poison has rules worth knowing. Poison makes a creature lose HP at the start of its turn and goes down by 1 each turn (Spire Codex), so JapaneseExport warns that end-of-turn status cards such as Beckon or Infection still hurt you even when the enemy is about to die, that Artifact blocks Poison, and that Accelerant makes Poison deal its damage faster rather than more in total. He advises few Poison cards beyond Noxious Fumes and Bubble Bubble, to keep the deck able to block.
Shiv decks lean on relics. Lahti says Shiv plus Sly wins at Ascension 10 mostly through relic synergies, Randall says to build Shiv with an early Kunai, Shuriken or Ornamental Fan, and Randall calls Mystic Lighter with Blade of Ink a strong combo because Blade of Ink makes enchanted attacks. Kotaku's Lewis Parker names another: Hand Trick (temporary Sly) on Hidden Daggers, which then discards more cards for more Shivs (Kotaku, Mar 18, 2026).

Mega Crit moved Acrobatics from Common to Uncommon in beta v0.103.0 because as a Common it was "completely dominating both win rates and pick rates"; that change is on the main branch. The public beta has changed more cards that are not on the main branch: v0.108.0 (Jul 3, 2026) cut Tracking from double damage to 50% more, and v0.109.0 (Jul 17, 2026) reworked Well-Laid Plans into a Rare that keeps your whole hand.
The tier lists disagree on several Silent cards. PCGamesN puts Speedster, Serpent Form, Master Planner and Burst in S tier, while Mobalytics puts Speedster and Master Planner in D and Serpent Form and Burst in C; Randall calls three-energy powers such as Serpent Form "way too costly at Ascension 10" without Energy relics. See the Card Tier List.
Relics
The Silent has seven relics of her own on the main branch:
| Relic | Rarity | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Snecko Skull | Common | Whenever you apply Poison, apply 1 more |
| Tingsha | Uncommon | 3 damage to a random enemy for each card discarded on your turn |
| Twisted Funnel | Uncommon | 4 Poison to ALL enemies at the start of combat |
| Helical Dart | Rare | 1 Dexterity this turn for each Shiv played |
| Paper Krane | Rare | Weak enemies deal 40% less damage instead of 25% |
| Tough Bandages | Rare | 3 Block for each card discarded on your turn |
| Ninja Scroll | Shop | 3 Shivs at the start of each combat |
Source: Spire Codex (game data, v0.107.1), read Oct 26, 2026.
Untapped.gg's Dillon Skiffington (Apr 2026) reads Tough Bandages with Tingsha as a signal for discard, Snecko Skull and Twisted Funnel for Poison, and Kunai and Shuriken for Shiv. Kotaku notes that Twisted Funnel is unlocked by the Silent's 15-boss Epoch. See Relics.
Ancient blessings
Few guides recommend Ancient blessings for the Silent by name; these change her kit directly. Orobas' Touch of Orobas turns Ring of the Snake into Ring of the Drake, which draws 2 additional cards at the start of your first 3 turns instead of only the first, and her Ancient cards, from Archaic Tooth or Darv's Dusty Tome, are Suppress and Wraith Form. PCGamesN ranks Wraith Form S tier.
General Ancient advice applies to her as well. Harvey Randall takes Neow's Silken Tress "every time" at Ascension 10, since its Glam enchantment makes each card in the first reward replay once per combat and A10's first floors are about solving damage. Mobalytics warns that with Vakuu's Fiddle (draw at the start of the turn, no draw during it) you should not add draw cards, which cuts against a draw-and-discard Silent. See Neow and the Ancients.
Bosses and fights that trouble her
Act 3's Aeonglass is the boss writers single out against Shiv decks. Evan Lahti says it "punishes you for being too all-in on shiv", and that Sly answers the Wither curses it puts in your deck. Lahti also names Mytes as an underrated hard fight, because they add Toxic cards while hitting for 10 to 20 and most characters lack a free way to clear them.
Poison works against The Insatiable, a Hive boss that eats you after a set number of turns: Mega Crit made Poison always resolve before it tries to eat you in v0.103.0. Against Act 1's Vantom, whose Slippery reduces each hit to 1 damage, PC Gamer's Abigail Shannon recommends many small hits (Mar 13, 2026), which Shivs supply. See Bosses.
Ascension 10
Harvey Randall's advice for the Silent at Ascension 10 is to plug leaks rather than chase a build. A10 "isn't about getting the perfect synergy, it's about plugging leaks", he writes in PC Gamer (Jun 12, 2026): fix the starter deck's problems as fast as possible and build "for solutions, not builds", since forcing an archetype "is a great way to get killed." He adds that Rare cards are scarce at A10: Ascension levels stack, and level 7, Scarcity, means fewer Rare and upgraded cards (PCGamesN, Mar 10, 2026). The Ascension Guide covers each level.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Silent build in Slay the Spire 2? PC Gamer's Harvey Randall ranks Sly (draw and discard) as the strongest Silent build in Slay the Spire 2, calling it "just busted", with Poison second and Shiv the most reliant on synergy. PCGamesN says Sly pairs well with either Poison or Shivs.
Is the Silent the best character in Slay the Spire 2? Both published character tier lists rank the Silent S tier in Slay the Spire 2: PCGamesN (Apr 28, 2026) and Pocket Tactics (Oct 5, 2026). PCGamesN calls her "undoubtedly the best character in STS 2 right now".
What does Sly do in Slay the Spire 2? Sly is the Silent's new keyword in Slay the Spire 2: a Sly card discarded from your hand before the end of your turn is played for free. Survivor is the starter deck's only way to discard, so guides add discard cards before Sly cards.
What are the best Silent cards in Slay the Spire 2? Adrenaline, Calculated Gamble, Footwork, Piercing Wail, Tools of the Trade and Well-Laid Plans appear at the top of both PCGamesN's and Mobalytics' Slay the Spire 2 lists. Mobalytics' JapaneseExport calls Adrenaline "The best of the best".
Is Poison good in Slay the Spire 2? Poison is the Silent's second-best build in Slay the Spire 2 for PC Gamer's Harvey Randall, scaling well but slow and weak at AoE. Game Rant calls it her simplest build, and PCGamesN warns against an all-Poison deck in Act 1.
How much HP does the Silent have in Slay the Spire 2? The Silent starts with 70 HP in Slay the Spire 2, and Ring of the Snake draws 2 extra cards at the start of each combat. Her starting deck has 12 cards, two more than the other characters.

RelicsSlay the Spire 2 has relics in seven rarities (Starter, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Shop, Event and Ancient), and OP.GG counts 298 in the game data of the v0.111.0 public beta. Each character starts with one starter relic that Orobas can upgrade to an Ancient version, and Ancient relics from Neow and the other Ancients replace the first game's boss relics.
-
Neow and the AncientsAncients are the beings who greet you at the start of each act in Slay the Spire 2 and offer three relics to choose one: Neow at the start of the run, Orobas, Pael or Tezcatara in Act 2, Nonupeipe, Tanx or Vakuu in Act 3, and Darv in either. They heal you on arrival and replace the first game's boss relics; Neow alone has 28 possible blessings on the main branch v0.107.1. -
BossesSlay the Spire 2 has 12 bosses in Early Access, three per act: Ceremonial Beast, The Kin and Vantom (Overgrowth), Lagavulin Matriarch, Soul Fysh and Waterfall Giant (Underdocks), Kaiser Crab, Knowledge Demon and The Insatiable (Hive), and Aeonglass, Queen and Test Subject (Glory).
