Patches and Updates
Slay the Spire 2's live main-branch version is v0.107.1, Major Update #2 of Jun 19, 2026, which added Steam Workshop support, the Bestiary and the Aeonglass boss. The latest patch is v0.111.0 of Aug 14, 2026, on the opt-in public beta only; Mega Crit has given no date for the next one.
The latest Slay the Spire 2 update on the main branch is v0.107.1, "Major Update #2", released on Jun 19, 2026, which brought four beta patches to everyone at once: Steam Workshop support, the Bestiary, the new Act 3 boss Aeonglass in place of the Doormaker, and a rework of the game's random number generator. The newest patch of all is v0.111.0 of Aug 14, 2026, but it and the four betas before it (v0.108.0 to v0.110.0) are on Steam's opt-in public-beta branch only, so most players do not have them. Mega Crit patches on Thursdays, tests changes on the beta for weeks, then moves them to the main branch in batches; in August 2026 it said updates would come "a bit further apart" while it builds an Alternate Act 2 and a new character, and its September 2026 Neowsletter gave no date for the next patch.

Launch hotfixes (v0.98.1 to v0.98.3)
The first week brought three main-branch hotfixes. v0.98.1 fixed softlocks and crashes, including a multiplayer disconnect after the Act 1 boss that blocked new runs and the Timeline screen, and reminded players that F2 sends feedback in game. v0.98.2 fixed a black screen at launch caused by the Sentry crash reporter, a Whispering Earring softlock with Osty, and Epoch unlocks failing after multiplayer runs. v0.98.3 "Fixed more instances of players getting stuck at the timeline."
The beta branch opens (v0.99 and v0.99.1)
v0.99 on Mar 13, 2026 opened the opt-in public beta: in the Steam Library, Properties, Game Versions and Betas, choose "public-beta". It capped HP at 999,999,999 for players, enemies and pets, and reworked modding so each mod ships a manifest that can declare dependencies and whether it affects gameplay. v0.99.1 moved those changes to the main branch on Mar 17. How to join the beta is also on Early Access and Roadmap.
v0.100.0: the anti-infinite pass and Phobia Mode
Mega Crit called v0.100.0 (Mar 20, 2026, beta) "the first BIG post-launch patch," whose main aim "is to make infinites harder to achieve." It reworked the Ironclad's Dominate, Expect a Fight, Spite and Stoke, turned the Silent's Prepared into Prepare, and changed the Regent's Glow, the Colorless Hidden Gem and the Doormaker boss. PCGamesN's headline called it stamping out infinites; how infinites work is on Deck-Building Strategy.
It changed numbers across every character. The Ironclad's Break went from cost 2 to 1 and 20(25) to 20(30) damage, the Silent's Grand Finale from 50(60) to 60(75), the Regent's Void Form became Ethereal and the Necrobinder's Banshee's Cry went from cost 6 to 9(7). The multiplayer cards were nerfed: Beacon of Hope can no longer stack, Believe in You gives 2(3) Energy instead of 3(4), and Huddle Up now Exhausts (see Multiplayer Cards).
It added two Neow relics, Hefty Tablet ("Choose 1 of 3 Rare cards to add to your Deck. Add 1 Injury to your Deck.") and Neow's Talisman ("Upgrade 1 of your Strikes and 1 of your Defends."). Shop relics cost 25 Gold less, gold-making relics such as Bowler Hat no longer appear at the Merchant, and Epochs can no longer be earned in Daily or Custom runs. Cards removed by a patch now become a "Deprecated Card" in saved runs.
It added Phobia Mode, a Settings tickbox that gives alternate visuals to the Hive backgrounds, The Insatiable, Phrog Parasite, Wrigglers, Terror Eel and Entomancer. Relics at treasure chests can be skipped in single-player, and map drawings can be hidden in co-op.
v0.101.0: designer's notes and the map
v0.101.0 (Mar 27, 2026, beta) was the first with Anthony Giovannetti's design commentary. It reverted Prepared, Capture Spirit and Borrowed Time to their launch versions, and ruled that "Elites can no longer spawn on floor 6 to better match StS1." It buffed the Regent (Parry's Block 8(11) to 10(14), Refine Blade's Forge 6(10) to 9(13)), cut the Waterfall Giant's HP from 250(260) to 240(250), reworked the Doormaker again to be "less random," and raised the in-game feedback limit from 500 to 8,000 characters.
v0.102.0: Badges and Ascension 6 Inflation
v0.102.0 (Apr 3, 2026, beta) added Badges, end-of-run notes such as beating a boss without losing HP (see Achievements and Badges). It replaced Ascension 6, Gloom ("Less rest sites."), with Inflation: Merchant card removal starts at 100 Gold and rises by 50 per removal instead of 25 (see Ascension). The Silent's Blade of Ink became "Add 2(3) Inky Shivs into your Hand," with the new Inky enchantment, and the Necrobinder's Borrowed Time became "Gain 4(6) energy. Cards cost an additional energy this turn." Skipping chests was turned off in co-op because "Too many people thought it was the Proceed button."
v0.103.0: friends-only leaderboards and Not Yet
v0.103.0 (Apr 10, 2026, beta) made Daily leaderboards show only friends, because Mega Crit does not want "invasive anti-cheat," ranking by win, then Badges, then speed. It added three Neow relics (Neow's Bones, Phial Holster and Winged Boots, which lets you ignore map paths 3 times), the Ironclad's Rare Not Yet ("Heal 10(13) HP. Exhaust.", cost 2), removed Grapple and moved the Silent's Acrobatics to Uncommon.
It softened Act 1: the Skulking Colony's HP went from 74(79) to 70(75), the Byrdonis's HP was lowered and the "Tunneling Twosome" fight left the Hive. Giovannetti said he planned "to shift some of the difficulty from Act 1 -> Act 3." The v0.103.1 hotfix fixed crashes and the score at Ascension 10.
Major Update #1 (v0.103.2, Apr 17, 2026)
Major Update #1 brought every beta change from v0.100.0 to v0.103.1 to the main branch. Its headlines were Ascension 6 Inflation, cheaper shop relics, better map generation, Not Yet, Inky Shivs, the Regent changes, the Borrowed Time rework, five new Neow relics and the Doormaker reworks, plus Badges, friends-only leaderboards, Phobia Mode and fixes for the multiplayer "Error 5008" disconnects. Mega Crit wrote that the Regent's card pool "has seen more buffs than any other character," and the Defect "the least amount of changes."
v0.104.0: the Ascension direction
v0.104.0 (Apr 24, 2026, beta) said "the base difficulty is quite hard right now," and began making low Ascensions easier and high ones harder; a message after your first win now explains Ascension. It added three Badges (Damage Leader and Debuffer in co-op, and C-c-c-Combo, "Played 20 cards in a single turn."), reworked the Ironclad's Conflagration ("Deal 2 damage to ALL enemies 4(5) times.") and Drum of Battle, moved the Regent's Parry Block onto the Sovereign Blade, merged the Axebots fight into one stronger Axebot, and lowered enemy Artifact, Slippery and Skittish scaling in co-op.
v0.105.0: the Bestiary, and the Doormaker out
v0.105.0 (May 8, 2026, beta) added the Bestiary to the Compendium and replaced the Act 3 boss Doormaker with Aeonglass, because "he was over the complexity threshold of what we want and had lingering issues." Mega Crit had said two weeks earlier that the Doormaker was "slightly weaker than the other Act 3 bosses". The patch added three Neow relics (Kaleidoscope, Fishing Rod and Silken Tress), made Tezcatara's Pumpkin Candle go out after 5 combats unless Kindled at rest sites, buffed the Defect's Hyperbeam from 26(34) to 28(36), and fixed saves lost after a crash or power cut. See Bosses and Glory.
v0.106.0 and the May bug fixes
v0.106.0 (May 22, 2026, beta) reworked the Infested Prism and Aeonglass's moves, raised the Skulking Colony back to 75(80) HP, renamed the Silent's Follow Through to Scare, moved Predator to Common and raised Pounce from 12(18) to 14(20); leaderboards gained a global rank paginator. On May 29 a separate "May Bug Fixes" update moved many beta bug fixes, including Linux crash and audio fixes, to the main branch without the balance changes.
Major Update #2 (v0.107.1, Jun 19, 2026)
Major Update #2 was "4 patches in 1": every beta change from v0.104.0 to v0.107.0 reached the main branch, including the Bestiary, Aeonglass, the reworked Infested Prism, the single Axebot, the three new Neow relics and the new Badges. v0.107.0 had added Juggernaut 6(8), Monarch's Gaze at cost 2(1) and a preferred Ascension for the random character option. This is the version every player has today.
It reworked the random number generator. Engineer Ed Lu wrote that the separate random generators made from a run's seed were correlated, so an Underdocks first act, for example, made certain Neow's Bones curses such as Debt far more likely; the fix replaced the generator with xoshiro256** and credited player tckmn's eight-hour investigation stream. PC Gamer covered the fix.
It launched Steam Workshop support. The game "has had an integrated mod loader from day one," and mod authors upload with Mega Crit's tool; the base game no longer deletes progress from mods that are removed or fail to load. See Mods and Steam Workshop. It also adjusted enemy HP at the Ascension extremes, for example the Owl Magistrate from 234(243) to 231(247), and added new Epoch art.
v0.108.0: 15 new multiplayer cards (beta)
v0.108.0 (Jul 3, 2026) is beta only. It added multiplayer cards for every character: the Ironclad's Midnight (cost 12, 99(120) damage, cheaper for each card anyone Exhausts), Blaze and Outrage; the Silent's Blade Symphony, Concoct and Fade; the Regent's Plot and Constellation; the Necrobinder's Underworld, Soulbound and Cacophony; the Defect's Hibernate, One For All and Imitation Learning; and the Colorless The Ball. PCGamesN counted 15. Tank became "Take 50% additional damage from enemies. Allies take 50% less damage from enemies.", Beacon of Hope rose from cost 1 to 2, enemy Block scaling was cut in 2-player games, Custom runs gained a Randomize button, and unmodded saves are now copied into the modded save folder.
v0.109.0: Neow's Sacrifice and longer seeds (beta)
v0.109.0 (Jul 17, 2026) is beta only. It added two Neow relics, Dowsing Rod (a Quest card that becomes Abundance after 5 more ? rooms) and Neow's Sacrifice (the Ambergris potion, "Heal for 50% of your max HP. Take an extra turn after this one.", plus the Guilty curse). It reworked Nonupeipe's Diamond Diadem to "Start combat with 20 Block. Block is not removed at the start of your next turn.", cut Aeonglass's Ebb from 26(32) to 22(26), raised the Ironclad's Demon Form from 2(3) to 3(4) Strength, and cut Midnight from 99(120) to 60(72). Seeds became 12 characters long, nearly any potion can be used on another player, the Regent gained the multiplayer card Tutor, and Traditional Chinese was added. v0.109.1 fixed Traditional Chinese plurals.
v0.110.0: keyboard-only mode (beta)
v0.110.0 (Jul 31, 2026) is beta only. It added keyboard-only controls, a map "Share" button that screenshots the whole map, and effects for characters' Form powers. Outbreak became a Rare Skill ("Apply 9(12) Poison to ALL enemies. Poison triggers immediately."), Scare became Sidestep, and Mirage and Pillar of Creation went back toward their earlier versions. It fixed a bug so "Uncommon cards show up slightly more often (as intended)" and repaired saves whose lost Epoch unlock blocked the Timeline.
v0.111.0: the last patch before the content push (beta)
v0.111.0 (Aug 14, 2026) is beta only. It added Indonesian, low-HP idle animations for every character and buffs to the Axebot and other enemies at high Ascension. It reworked Expect a Fight to "Gain 15(16) Block. Gains 5(8) additional Block for each Strength you have." (cost 3) and the Defect's Hyperbeam to "Deal 24(30) damage to ALL enemies. Lose 3 Focus this turn." The notes warned "there may be a longer wait in general for the next patch," and the team took its annual break in the last week of August, per the September 2026 Neowsletter.
Nerfs and the review waves
Balance patches drew waves of negative Steam reviews. Steam's histogram shows 15,907 negative reviews in the week of Mar 19 (the anti-infinite beta), 22,345 in the week of Apr 16 (Major Update #1) and 14,921 in the week of May 7 (the Doormaker's removal), and Steam marks the game as having had "off-topic review activity." PC Gamer reported that a Mega Crit co-founder "wasn't bothered" by the backlash. The full story is on Reception and Sales.

Early Access and RoadmapSlay the Spire 2 has been in Steam Early Access since Mar 5, 2026 and Mega Crit has announced no 1.0 date; its store page says Early Access may last 1 to 2 years and that the $24.99 price will rise afterward. Next on the roadmap are an Alternate Act 2 and a new character, then an Alternate Act 3, with a true ending, Steam achievements and console and mobile ports further off. -
Deck-Building StrategyGood Slay the Spire 2 decks cover a few jobs in order (front-loaded damage and AoE, then Block, then card draw and Energy, then scaling), skip cards that do not help, and follow relics and enchantments rather than forcing one archetype. Infinite combos still exist, but Mega Crit's v0.100.0 balance pass (Mar 20, 2026) aimed to make them harder to reach.
-
Multiplayer CardsSlay the Spire 2 has 21 multiplayer-only cards on the main branch v0.107.1, two for each character and 11 colorless, such as Knockdown, Flanking and Rally, which only appear in co-op runs and target allies. The opt-in public beta adds 16 more (15 in v0.108.0 and Tutor in v0.109.0).
-
Achievements and BadgesSlay the Spire 2 has no Steam achievements yet; asked when they come, Casey Yano answered "The v1.0 release." In Early Access its stand-in is Badges, 23 end-of-run awards such as Flawless (beat a boss without losing HP) or Speedy (win in under 50 minutes), which also rank Daily leaderboards: by win, then Badge count, then time, among Steam friends.
-
AscensionSlay the Spire 2 has 10 Ascension levels, not 20: each one stacks a new handicap, from Swarming Elites at Ascension 1 to Double Boss at Ascension 10, and you unlock the next level by winning on your highest one. Ascension 6 has been Inflation (pricier card removal) since Apr 17, 2026; it was Gloom (fewer rest sites) at launch.
-
BossesSlay the Spire 2 has 12 bosses in Early Access, three per act: Ceremonial Beast, The Kin and Vantom (Overgrowth), Lagavulin Matriarch, Soul Fysh and Waterfall Giant (Underdocks), Kaiser Crab, Knowledge Demon and The Insatiable (Hive), and Aeonglass, Queen and Test Subject (Glory).
