PC Requirements and Steam Deck
Slay the Spire 2 needs at least 64-bit Windows 10, a dual-core 2.0 GHz CPU, 4 GB of RAM, a DirectX 12 or Vulkan GPU with 1 GB of VRAM and 4 GB of storage, and runs natively on macOS 12 and later and on Linux; Steam recommends a quad-core 3.0 GHz CPU, 8 GB of RAM and 2 GB of VRAM. It is Steam Deck Verified, has full controller and mouse-only support, and ships in 14 languages.
Slay the Spire 2 runs on modest PCs: Steam's minimum is 64-bit Windows 10, a dual-core 2.0 GHz processor, 4 GB of RAM, a DirectX 12 or Vulkan compatible graphics card with 1 GB of VRAM and 4 GB of free space, and the recommended PC has a quad-core 3.0 GHz processor, 8 GB of RAM and 2 GB of VRAM (Steam, read Oct 26, 2026). It is native on Windows, macOS (12 Monterey or later, Apple Silicon included) and Linux, it is rated Verified on Steam Deck (Steam), and Casey Yano says Mega Crit is "quite strict on performance", testing on "a wide range of cheap and terrible computers" (Mega Crit's November 2025 Neowsletter). The game is sold only on Steam, in Early Access, for $24.99; no console or mobile version has been announced.

Mega Crit expects hardware support to widen. Its Early Access FAQ lists "greater hardware compatibility" among what 1.0 will bring (Steam), and the April 2026 roadmap includes "Compatibility and performance improvements" (Mega Crit's April 2026 Neowsletter).
Mac and Linux
The Mac version launched on day one. Asked in February 2026 whether the game would be on macOS at launch, Yano answered "Yes" (Mega Crit's February 2026 Neowsletter), and Steam recommends an Apple Silicon M1 or a quad-core Intel Core i5. Mods work on Apple Silicon too: v0.99 updated the bundled Harmony and MonoMod libraries "to support mac arm64" (v0.99 notes); see Mods and Steam Workshop.
Linux is a native build, and patches have fixed its problems. The May Bug Fixes update (May 29, 2026) fixed a Linux crash in combat when interface elements were removed mid-frame, a crash when the ICU libraries are missing, and audio staying muted after pressing the volume keys or alt-tabbing (May Bug Fixes).
Steam Deck
Slay the Spire 2 is Steam Deck Verified. Valve's report passes all four checks: the default controller configuration is fully functional, controller glyphs match the Deck, interface text is legible, and the default configuration performs well (Steam, read Oct 26, 2026). Steam's newer Steam Machine check also passes on controller configuration, glyphs and performance. Steam Deck players can join co-op with friends on Windows, macOS or Linux, since every copy is on Steam; see Co-op Multiplayer.
Graphics and performance
The Windows version can render with DirectX 12 or Vulkan. Mega Crit made Vulkan the default "on Intel iGPUs with known D3D12 stability issues" in v0.102.0, then "Restored the default rendering backend to D3D12 for Intel 620 GPUs" in May 2026 (v0.102.0 notes; May Bug Fixes). The Graphics options include VSync, whose On/Off state displays correctly after a restart on the public beta since v0.109.0 (v0.109.0 notes).
Performance work in patches has been about stutter. Major Update #2 "Reduced stuttering when combat effects appear for the first time in a run" (Major Update #2, Jun 19, 2026). On the public beta, v0.108.0 compressed combat background assets, and v0.111.0 (Aug 14, 2026) reduced stutter when text first appears in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai and Russian and cut hitches in two events (v0.108.0 notes; v0.111.0 notes). Every patch is on Patches and Updates.
Wide and unusual screens are handled. Patches have fixed leaderboards on non-standard aspect ratios, and on the public beta Wrigglers no longer spawn off screen in 4:3 and the run history is centered on ultrawide screens (v0.103.0 notes; v0.108.0 notes; v0.110.0 notes).
Controller, keyboard and mouse
Slay the Spire 2 has full controller support. Steam lists full controller support, DualSense controller support and the Steam Input API (Steam), and Major Update #1 brought "various improvements to controller support" (Major Update #1, Apr 17, 2026). In May 2026 Mega Crit recommended controller players use the beta branch while it fixed crashes on selection screens (v0.105.0 notes); those fixes and one for the game flickering between "Controller Detected" and "Mouse Detected" reached everyone with Major Update #2 (Major Update #2). On the public beta since v0.108.0, all controller deadzones are 0.5, so sticks feel less sensitive (v0.108.0 notes).
You can play with the mouse alone or, on the beta, the keyboard alone. Steam lists a Mouse Only Option and "Playable without Timed Input" (Steam), number keys select cards, and v0.110.0 on the public beta (Jul 31, 2026) added "a keyboard-only control option" (v0.110.0 notes).
Touchscreen controls are not in yet. Asked for the first game's touchscreen mode, Yano said "it'll likely be part of the push for mobile ports that will bring in touchscreen" (Mega Crit's August 2026 Neowsletter).
Languages
Slay the Spire 2 launched in 14 languages. The store lists English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), Thai and Turkish (Steam). A language the game does not support falls back to English (v0.98.1 notes).
Two more are on the public beta. v0.109.0 (Jul 17, 2026) added Traditional Chinese, and v0.111.0 (Aug 14, 2026) Indonesian, both "with English fallback" (v0.109.0 notes; v0.111.0 notes); neither is on the store's list yet. Mega Crit says 1.0 will be "available in more languages" (Steam).
Saves and Steam Cloud
Progress syncs through Steam Cloud, and you can quit mid-run. Steam lists Steam Cloud, Save Anytime and Family Sharing (Steam). Each player has three profiles (PC Gamer), and modded progress is saved apart from unmodded progress.
Patches have made saving safer. Early patches fixed save data loss on Windows when power was lost mid-save and "Fatal Error" crashes from cloud syncing (v0.99 notes; Major Update #1). Major Update #2 stopped syncing settings.save to avoid conflicts, fixed duplicate run history files, and made sure that with Steam Cloud turned off, cloud files no longer overwrite local ones (Major Update #2; v0.107.0 notes). On the public beta since v0.108.0, saving is retried when antivirus or cloud sync briefly blocks the file (v0.108.0 notes).
Consoles, mobile and other stores
There is no console or mobile version. Mega Crit's FAQ says those likely come after Early Access (Mega Crit's FAQ), and its roadmap puts ports "Further off in the Future" (Mega Crit's April 2026 Neowsletter). On a Switch 2 port, Yano said in June 2025, "If the console's popular and there's demand we'll port!", calling it "not a true confirmation" (Mega Crit's June 2025 Neowsletter). The game is not on Game Pass (PCGamesN). See Early Access and Roadmap.

Mods and Steam WorkshopSlay the Spire 2 has had a built-in mod loader since launch and official Steam Workshop support since Major Update #2 (v0.107.1, Jun 19, 2026): subscribe on the Workshop and mods download to every device you play on. Modded progress is saved separately, co-op partners should run the same gameplay mods, and mods for the first game cannot work because the sequel uses a different engine.
-
Co-op MultiplayerSlay the Spire 2 has online co-op for up to 4 players, Steam friends only with no matchmaking: one player hosts and the others join, everyone shares the map and fights the same enemies, which scale with the party, while each player keeps their own character, HP, deck, relics and rewards. Co-op has its own multiplayer-only cards and its own Ascension progress. -
Patches and UpdatesSlay the Spire 2's live main-branch version is v0.107.1, Major Update #2 of Jun 19, 2026, which added Steam Workshop support, the Bestiary and the Aeonglass boss. The latest patch is v0.111.0 of Aug 14, 2026, on the opt-in public beta only; Mega Crit has given no date for the next one.
-
Early Access and RoadmapSlay the Spire 2 has been in Steam Early Access since Mar 5, 2026 and Mega Crit has announced no 1.0 date; its store page says Early Access may last 1 to 2 years and that the $24.99 price will rise afterward. Next on the roadmap are an Alternate Act 2 and a new character, then an Alternate Act 3, with a true ending, Steam achievements and console and mobile ports further off. -
Development HistorySlay the Spire 2 is made by Mega Crit, the studio of Casey Yano and Anthony Giovannetti, which began it around May 2021 in Unity and moved it to the Godot engine after Unity's Runtime Fee in September 2023. Art director Marlowe Dobbe led a brighter, more animated look, and Mega Crit announced the game in April 2024, delayed it once and launched it in Early Access on Mar 5, 2026.

Differences from Slay the SpireSlay the Spire 2 keeps the first game's card combat and map but replaces boss relics with Ancients, adds enchantments, afflictions, Quest cards, an alternate Act 1 and up to 4-player online co-op, swaps the Watcher for two new characters (the Regent and the Necrobinder), and has 10 Ascension levels instead of 20. It is still in Early Access, with no true ending yet.
