Regent Cards
The Regent has 88 cards in Slay the Spire 2's main-branch game data (v0.107.1): 4 Basic, 20 Common, 36 Uncommon, 26 Rare and 2 Ancient, 2 of them for multiplayer only. Many cost Stars as well as Energy, and Forge cards build the Sovereign Blade.
The Regent has 88 cards in Slay the Spire 2: 4 Basic starter cards, 20 Common, 36 Uncommon, 26 Rare and 2 Ancient, counted from the game's own data for the main branch, v0.107.1 (Spire Codex, game data v0.107.1, read Oct 26, 2026). Two of them, Largesse and Hammer Time, appear only in co-op. Many cost Stars as well as Energy, written here as "1 + 3 Stars", and many Forge, adding damage to the Sovereign Blade; both are explained on Regent. Slay the Spire 2 is in Early Access, so these numbers still change: each table names the patches that changed a card, and marks public-beta changes that are not on the main branch. How guides build him is on Regent Guide.

How to read the tables
Each table gives a card's cost, type, text and upgraded text as the game's files hold them on the main branch. A cost such as "2 (1)" is 2 Energy, 1 upgraded; "0 + 3 Stars" is 0 Energy and 3 Stars. "Same; cost 1" means the upgrade changes only the cost. Text is from Spire Codex, a community database read from the game's files, which Mega Crit named among "community projects that collect their own stats and provide data" in its May 2026 Neowsletter. Mobalytics' card list drops the Energy and Star icons from its text, so its numbers are not used here.
The "Changes by patch" column links Mega Crit's notes. Changes from v0.100.0 to v0.107.0 reached the main branch with Major Update #2, v0.107.1 on Jun 19, 2026. Changes marked "(beta)", from v0.108.0 (Jul 3, 2026) to v0.111.0 (Aug 14, 2026), are on the opt-in public beta only.
Basic cards
The Regent's four starter cards are his Strike, Defend, Falling Star and Venerate. Falling Star is a free Attack that spends 2 Stars, and Venerate makes 2 Stars, so the starting deck already uses his second resource; his relic Divine Right adds 3 Stars at the start of each combat.

Ancient cards
The Regent's two Ancient cards are Meteor Shower and The Sealed Throne (Spire Codex). Ancient cards come from the Ancients, not from card rewards: the Ancient relic Archaic Tooth transforms "a starter card into an Ancient version" (Mega Crit's v0.103.0 notes). Meteor Shower is in PCGamesN's S tier for the Regent and both are in Mobalytics' (PCGamesN; Mobalytics). The Ancients are on Neow and the Ancients.

Cards the Regent creates
Five of the Regent's cards make tokens that are not in his card pool. The Sovereign Blade comes from his first Forge each combat; the three Minion cards come from BEGONE!, CHARGE!! and GUARDS!!!. The Minion tokens Exhaust when played, and his Shop relic Vitruvian Minion doubles their damage and Block (Spire Codex, relics).

Key cards by archetype
Guides name two main Regent archetypes, Stars and Forge, and treat Colorless, Vigor and Minion cards as support (PCGamesN's Regent guide, Apr 8, 2026). The lists below are each guide's, not a ranking of our own.
Stars. PCGamesN's Stars build takes Gather Light, Glow, Hidden Cache, Solar Strike and Knockout Blow early, then Astral Pulse, Comet, Genesis, Particle Wall, Crescent Spear, Reflect and Gamma Blast, and by Act 3 Decisions, Decisions, Royal Gamble, Seven Stars, The Smith and Stardust. TheGamer's list of Star cards adds Shining Strike, Neutron Aegis and Venerate (TheGamer, Mar 10, 2026), and GameSpot's Star build ends on Stardust (GameSpot, Mar 13, 2026).
Forge. PCGamesN's Forge build is Wrought in War, Spoils of Battle, Furnace, Summon Forth, Seeking Edge and Bulwark, added only on a solid base. TheGamer's Forge list also has Beat into Shape and Refine Blade.
Created cards and Minions. Mobalytics' guide calls Spectrum Shift "The best of the best" among scaling cards, says "1 energy for 26 damage is ludicrous" of CHARGE!!, and names Child of the Stars and Pillar of Creation as late Block engines (Mobalytics, JapaneseExport, Jun 17, 2026).
Best Regent cards, by tier list
The tier lists disagree, so each is given with its date. PCGamesN's Regent tier list (Apr 8, 2026) puts Reflect, Bombardment, Big Bang, Void Form and Meteor Shower in S, and Parry, Arsenal, Tyranny, Hammer Time and Monarch's Gaze among its D tier (PCGamesN).
Mobalytics' card tier list (Aug 12, 2026) has 18 Regent cards in S, among them Big Bang, Reflect, Child of the Stars, Pillar of Creation, Convergence, GUARDS!!!, Bulwark, Spectrum Shift, Comet and Void Form, and puts Resonance, Heirloom Hammer, Monarch's Gaze, Monologue and Crescent Spear in D (Mobalytics). Where they differ most: PCGamesN rates Bombardment S and Pillar of Creation, Spectrum Shift and Crash Landing D, while Mobalytics rates those three S and Bombardment B.
Pocket Tactics' best Regent cards (Jun 29, 2026) are CHARGE!!, Void Form, Child of the Stars, GUARDS!!!, Comet and Heavenly Drill, the last strong with 4 or more Energy but divisive (Pocket Tactics). The cross-character view is on Card Tier List.
Unlocking Regent cards
Nine Regent cards are locked until Epochs are earned with him, per Spire Codex, epochs. I Arrive (beat Act 1 as the Regent) adds Spoils of Battle, Sword Sage and Furnace; Friends (kill 15 Elites with him) adds BEGONE!, Arsenal and Supermassive; Little King (beat Ascension 1 with him) adds Patter, Heavenly Drill and Lunar Blast. The Timeline is on Unlocks and the Timeline.

Regent GuideThe Regent is one of Slay the Spire 2's two new characters, with 75 HP and Divine Right (gain 3 Stars at the start of each combat). Guides build him around Stars, a second resource that carries over between turns, with Forge and the Sovereign Blade as a backup, and call him the hardest character to master.

Curses, Statuses and Quest CardsSlay the Spire 2 has 18 curses, 16 statuses and 3 Quest cards on its main branch (v0.107.1). Curses stay in your deck until removed (Eternal ones, such as Ascender's Bane from Ascension 5, never leave), statuses last one combat, and Quest cards (Byrdonis Egg, Lantern Key, Spoils Map) pay out when you finish their task.

Neow and the AncientsAncients are the beings who greet you at the start of each act in Slay the Spire 2 and offer three relics to choose one: Neow at the start of the run, Orobas, Pael or Tezcatara in Act 2, Nonupeipe, Tanx or Vakuu in Act 3, and Darv in either. They heal you on arrival and replace the first game's boss relics; Neow alone has 28 possible blessings on the main branch v0.107.1. -

Card Tier ListThere is no single Slay the Spire 2 tier list: PCGamesN (Apr 28, 2026) and Pocket Tactics (Oct 5, 2026) both rank the Silent best, but they disagree on the Ironclad and Necrobinder, and PCGamesN's (Apr 2026) and Mobalytics' (Aug 12, 2026) card lists put cards such as Body Slam, Demon Form and Graveblast at opposite ends.
