Slay the Spire 2 1.0 release: Sep 2027Not announced: our best guess from Mega Crit's 1 to 2 year Early Access plan.
Best guessMega Crit's Early Access FAQ on Steam says it will stay in Early Access "Until the game feels great! Last time we thought it would be about a year and it took about 1.5 years. So perhaps in the same 1 - 2 year range." We count 18 months from the Mar 5, 2026 Early Access launch, as the first game took, to the first Thursday of Sep 2027 (Mega Crit ships on Thursdays) at 10 AM Pacific, the hour of the Early Access launch. Records and Speedruns

As of Oct 26, 2026 neither Mega Crit nor the gaming press has reported a Slay the Spire 2 speedrun world record or a verified win-streak record; the records on file are Mega Crit's own (3 million sold in a week, 240 million runs by May 2026) and SteamDB's 574,638 concurrent players on Mar 8, 2026. The best-known competitions are the Devour the Tower co-op tournament (May 25, 2026) and China's 7th Cat Food Cup (Aug 8 to 30, 2026).

No Slay the Spire 2 speedrun world record or Ascension 10 win-streak record has been reported by Mega Crit or by the reputable gaming press as of Oct 26, 2026; the records that are documented are the game's own launch numbers, a handful of community tournaments, and streaks that players report themselves. The biggest is the player count: SteamDB measured 574,638 people playing at once on Mar 8, 2026, which PC Gamer (Sep 18, 2026) calls a record for the deckbuilder genre on Steam. The first community-led tournament, Devour the Tower, was a four-player co-op event on May 25, 2026. The game is in Early Access with no Steam achievements and no official leaderboards beyond the Daily Climb, so speedrun times have no official home yet.

Launch records

By the press's count, Slay the Spire 2 had the biggest launch of any roguelike deckbuilder on Steam. SteamDB measured a peak of 574,638 concurrent players on Mar 8, 2026, three days after the Early Access launch, and GamingOnLinux (Mar 6, 2026) had already called it "the biggest roguelike deck-builder on Steam ever" at a running peak of 330,891. PC Gamer's editors call the 574,638 peak a record for the deckbuilder genre on Steam.

It sold fast. Mega Crit's March 2026 Neowsletter (Mar 13, 2026) reported "3,000,000 units sold with more than 25,000,000 runs attempted" in the first week. Sales and reviews are on Reception and Sales.

Mega Crit's own statistics

Mega Crit publishes run counts in its monthly Neowsletter. It counted about 145 million runs by the April 2026 issue (Apr 17, 2026), and 240,000,000 by the May 2026 issue (May 23, 2026): 60.5 million wins and 179.5 million losses, a 25% win rate. By difficulty, "the average win-rate on A0 is 16%, compared to 9% in StS1. At the highest, A10, the win-rate is about 17%, compared to a very small 3% at A20 in StS1." The same issue said the five characters are played "almost the same amount," leaning slightly toward the Ironclad and the Silent, the first two unlocked. Mega Crit has not published win rates per character. More on Ascension.

Mega Crit also points players to two community stats projects. The May 2026 Neowsletter named Spiracle and Spire Codex as "community projects that collect their own stats and provide data, tools, guides, etc. for players."

Tournaments

Devour the Tower was the first big community-led Slay the Spire 2 tournament. Mega Crit's May 2026 Neowsletter announced it for May 25, 2026: "Featuring 34 streamers, this 4-player co-op competition will be co-casted by FrostPrime and Otzdarva," and said the winners "may even get a special gift, courtesy of Mega Crit." We found no reputable report of the winners. Co-op play is on Co-op Multiplayer.

The Cat Food Cup is China's long-running Slay the Spire tournament. Mega Crit's August 2026 Neowsletter (Aug 14, 2026) promoted the 7th Cat Food Cup, hosted on bilibili by IrisRaphael from Aug 8 to Aug 30, 2026, and gave its rules, unchanged since the first game: each player gets two save-load chances, then two players run the exact same seed, "and whoever climbs further and faster up the Spire takes the win."

A competitive mode may come later. PCGamesN (Apr 5, 2026) reported that Casey Yano told PC Gamer that Mega Crit is exploring a competitive mode, a short-session format and a social or multiplayer mode, cautioning that "they might not make it at all." Until then, players race with mods: Rock Paper Shotgun (Mar 25, 2026) reported SlayThePlayer, a mod by Maimun in which two players climb the same seed on separate maps and fight each other at every act boss. More on Mods and Steam Workshop.

Win streaks

Reported win streaks come from players, not from any official tracker. PC Gamer's Sep 18, 2026 panel says GamesRadar+'s Austin Wood (256 hours) went on an Ascension 10 win streak through every character one by one, and that PC Gamer's Harvey Randall (212 hours) has at least one Ascension 10 win on every character. The same panel says Evan Lahti (426 hours, 441 runs as the Silent) has won in 30 minutes with every character.

Some creators claim records of their own. The duo 2Asianz titled a video "Ep. 20: A10 Duos - World Record (probably) 20 Win Streak!" (YouTube), for a two-player co-op Ascension 10 streak; that is the creators' own claim, and no press outlet has verified it.

Speedruns

There is no official speedrun record. Mega Crit has published none, the press has reported none, and community leaderboards are not sources here. The game's only built-in ranking is the Daily Climb: since Major Update #1 (Apr 17, 2026), Daily leaderboards rank by whether you won, then by badges earned, then by time, and show only your friends. Every run has a seed: since Major Update #2 (Jun 19, 2026) each run has a 12-character seed, after a new random number generator replaced one that a player, tckmn, showed to produce correlated rolls in an eight-hour investigation.
